Does anyone have a Titanium 357? I live in Australia and nobody has imported one yet but if anyone can give them the thumbs up I will be the first to give one a go. Is titanium as resistant to abrasion as ferrous steel? The only thing that goes against it is it's low weight wich might make the recoil a bit harsh but if that was a problem I'd get a 22.

The folks who get titanium frames usually want light weight for concealed carry and are not concerned with heavy use on a range. I have two Taurus revolvers - one blued steel and one stainless - and like them both and have heard favorable comments about the light weight guns from others. Titanium is usually alloyed with some other metals to optimize properties for use. It is much more resistant to abrasion than the best aluminum aloys but is inferior to properly hardened steel. Barrels are steel inserts set into the Ti alloy. I don't know if pinions are reinforced this way or not. One caution: titanium is subject to chemical stress cracking especially in the presence of chlorides so treat it like a blued steel gun if you live really close to the ocean & keep it clean.

I don't own one, but have fired one with .357mag....they are brutal on the wrists friend.....shoot them with .38Spl.and even that isn't too pleasant.

I own the 4 inch 357 mag total titanium. The gun is awesome. Taurus revolvers have replaced most of my ruger and smith revolvers. The titanium gun is super light for carry in the woods, outback, or in the city. The recoil to me feels minimal but the gun is loud. The only problem that I had with the gun was the trigger pull. Very, Very, heavy - I believe my DA pull was around 18 and my SA pull was around 8 direct from Taurus. Nothiing a gunsmith couldn't fix. After the trigger job, the gun is even more awesome. I would highly recommend the revolver, mine is used anytime I fish, hunt, hike, or travel. Basically, this revolver goes where I go. :uzi:

I have heard of quality control issues with titanium, probably because of the extra barrel insert and the increased difficulty of machining titanium. If I got any gun part in titanium, it would be a firing pin or an AR lower as Olympic is promising.
