I like Taurus but they are developing "smart gun" technology as we speak...

yeah, Tar-us is in choots with the regime of the PDRofNJ. NJ is giving them funding and technological aid to develope the "smart gun", which is the only state so far to ban all handguns in the state except for smart guns. it comes into effect the moment a smartgun hists the market place.

i don't pity the fools that stay in that prison state. they get what the voted for.

Well then

I say we start a campaign to get taurus to drop the smart gun developement, and drop it now. I am also gonna e mail the NRA and let em know how I feel about that as well.

But to the larger point, I still want to know why more gun companies, especially those with offices/factories/based in the US dont do this already.

Man, I had a Tracker in .22 that was beautiful...same with the MDL85 snub...both excellent guns. If you are seeing crappy guns you better think twice about where you are getting them. Ain't Tauruses fault.

I can second that.

Now, the issue of machining marks etc is a valid one to be addressed as that can only be from a manufacturer with a NIB gun.

However dings, scratches and looking like they were dragged on the floor?

Just go to Gander Mountain in Germantown Wis and watch them put all the hanguns away for the night. When I was there as they were closing the salesman (translation: pimply faced college kid) was picking em all up and cradleing them in his arms. Just dropping one atop another with no protection. He then walked into the back room and I heard him dump em all out on the counter to put em away.

Yup, brand new guns that I wouldnt buy for less than a 20% discount.

I spoke to the manager (translation: pimply faced college dropout) and related what I saw. A week later, same thing by a different salesman.

So, you can't always blame a manufacturer for bad cosmetics.

The NRA fee is not included in the cost of the gun if Taurus and the NRA have an agreement that provides it at a much lower cost to Taurus.
