I'm considering a 6" Taurus Tracker in 45 Colt. It's listed as compact frame, and though I like a small cylinder and low barrel axis, I'd like a more substantial (ie thicker and longer) grip. Any replacements out there that fit this criteria and aren't just curved and grooved while just as anemic?

I only did a brief search of the Taurus web site, but it appears that the 6-inch Trackers in .45 Colt are offered with the Ribber Grip. I love that grip and ordered one for my Taurus 617. It did a pretty good job of filling my hand and cushioning it from the nasty shock of .357 magnum rounds. If the Ribber grip is not your cup of tea, you might ask Taurus if one of the grips from the Raging Bull series would fit the Tracker. Otherwise, you might check to see whether Hogue makes a grip that would fit. Only reason I suggest Hogue is because all of the Taurus factory grips (that I know of) are monogrips, and that is Hogue's niche. Hope this helps ...

I have put a ribber on my 617 too as far as an after market hogue grip I havent seen one but I do know that if you contact hogue they will try to find a way to accomodate you. they are proud of their custom grips but then they are the best too.

Hey guys, I happened upon this forum and I am interested in getting rid of my ribber grip for a mono grip, anyone interested in trading a mono grip for my ribber grip? I don't care for this ribber grip, it feels a bit cheap and I thinks it's gonna be a pain to keep clean, plus the fact that is too short for my bear paws. Dwight Contact me at: dwightsmail@somd.net I have made contact with Taurus and they do not offer any other grips for the Trackers except the Ribber and the Mono styles. I asked for any suggestions on wood grips, they referred me to Hogue. I made contact with Ron at Hougue and he informed that they are currently unable to manufacture wood grips for the Trackers due to a lack of exacting standards by Taurus' machinery, he simply told me that the variences on the final products from Taurus is not consistant enough to mass produce a wooden grip as yet. Basically, until the variences are exact of a regular basis, the rubber grips are the only ones you can pound into position to fit properly. Thanks.
