| I Have A Chance To Pick Up A Pt99 But
This may sound like a stupid question but, I have a chance to buy a PT99 and the only thing holding me back is I am very illiterate about the pistol in question. It has 9mm para. stamped on it and I am concerned that it uses special ammo. No one I know has an answer as to the 9mm para. Is this something to be concerned about or is it just a mocel number? I Appreciate any help and info on this pistol. Thanks. Dean |

Thanks for all the info. You gave me more info than the other 200 or so sites I have visited in the last 3 days. I will be picking up the 99 tomorow. Thanks again.

I am now the proud owner of that PT99. Went to the range with it this evening and burned up a couple boxes of ammo. The Pachmeyer grips feel good and the pistol doesn't feel bulky. It shoots straight as I had good groups at 15, 20 and 25 yards. Are there any weaknesses I should watch for as far as parts failing or wearing? Or, are there any upgrades I should consider as preventitive maintenance?

Hello. If interested the link below will take you to some information and observations on an older PT92. I think it tranlates to the PT99 as well since the primary difference is the sights. http://www.hipowersandhandguns.com/TaurusPT92.htm Hope it's of some use. Best.

Thanks for the link Stephen. It was a good read. Looks like I better plan on having a set of blocks on hand for a repair should I need them. I am not really concerned with the sights as they seem adequate to me. I was surprised at the feel of the PT99 when I first picked it up. It fits my hand very well and didn't take me long to get used to it. I will be looking forward to the next gun show so I can check out some more Tauras models.
