Pt22

Anyone have any experience with the Taurus PT22? I just got back from a gun show and bought one for the wife. She saw the pink grips and fell in love. I have wanted one for a while. I didn't get the greatest price on this one and knew it. However, it peaked interest in the wife. Anything that will get her interested in shooting more, I am all for it and consider it a great investment. Here is what a pink gripped PT22 looks like.

Here is the manufacturer's web page.

True. It's an awesome thing to be with someone that shares your interest in firearms. I have been looking at these for a while, and have asked questions about it. From what I have heard, everyone that I talked to loved these little pistols. Only down side is noise, and probably not the most accurate 22pistol out there. But your probably packing ear protection anyway, so no problem there. I like the pop up barrel.

The wife hats pulling back a slide, so the tip up barrel will be perfect.

First of all....congrats on getting the wife interested in shooting. Mine says she wants to go with me to the range sometime, but no luck yet in getting her there.

Since I haven't used a gun with it I have a question on the tip up barrel. I assume since there is no slide to load the chamber, the purpose of the tip up barrel is to get the 1st round loaded. Is the correct procedure to tip up the barrel, load the 1st round in the chamber, reseat the barrel, insert the magazine and from there on each round auto auto loads from the magazine?

I was a bit disappointed that she didn't like the MKII 22/45 very much. She can chamber a round OK, but still likes the Buckmark better. Personally, I like the Buckmark better, as well. Neither, however, come in pink.

I am currently looking at one of these as a back up gun. They are asking 150 for it. I am curious if it is worth it or not??

$150 is actually a very good price on a PT22. Personally, I say it is worth it.

Eventually, the wife liked shooting the Ruger better than the Buckmark, especially after I put the Hi-Viz sight on the front. I ended up replacing the pink grips on the PT22 with rubber wrap around ones for my own use.

Now it does not really matter what the wife likes, since she no longer resides here.
