| Super Moderator ![]() | I was about to design a new handgun, and then...
I went to Taurus's site and found this. ![]() Long slide version of the 24/7. I was looking for something that would basically be excellent for double-tapping, something with a site radius, weight, and smoothness of firing and cycling that would make accurate repeat shots feasible. Something that could accomodate a laser. And hopefully a high cap magazine. Without jumping into the 9vs45 debate, I'm not satisfied with 9mm but think the 40S&W is a good compromise that allows high capacity, low recoil, and adequate stopping power with proper bullets and at a significant advantage over 9mm. In case anyone hasn't caught on, I LOVE my Steyr M40 as an all-purpose handgun for carry that isn't too small for recreational shooting. I still like the big handguns though and this offering by Taurus offers decent site radius and barrel length without real bulk. While I'd love to go up to a 45 and may well at some point, 40 is probably the better choice for rapid fire, and a round I already have in supply. Eh, if I like this one I stand a good chance of getting the 45 as well at some point. That and a 145 for a slightly more potent CCW.
