| Thinking about a Taurus 24/7??
What is the deal with them? Are they worth buying and what is a fair price. I want one in .45 ACP.

Hmm. I like the looks, like the price, I just don't know too much about them. I was thinking about dumping my 9mm Ruger and getting this: 15 round .40 cal http://www.gundirectory.com/guns/20259-1.jpg |

Two bad reviews. I am a little weary now, but they look so good and are affordable. I don't have the cash anyways, but I am always thinking ahead.

| I purchased the last new 9mm DAO 24/7 pistol at Gander Mountain for $100.00 off the listed price just as the PRO models were hitting the market. My wife really enjoys shooting this pistol. It functions flawlessly with every factory brand, and handload we've fed it except for MagTech range ammo. The MagTech fodder failed to fully chamber about every other round, causing us to tap the slide forward. |

I was also wondering what people thought about this gun. I found a 24/7 9mm used at my local gun shop and was wondering about them. I may stay away from this gun.

| taurus pt 24..will it Protect a life??
Hey guys, first post! ...I'm having some issues with the taurus pt 24/7 pro 9mm. Heres the story, My dad wanted a reliable defense gun for carry and he wasn't sure on what to get with his budget of about $400. So he wanted me to come along to see what we can find. So we saw the taurus, Not kowing to much about the guns..it seemed to be a good fit...New for 389.00. At first I was trying talk him into a glock .40 (my carry gun) But for the price and the feel of the gun....It seemed to fit! We took it home broke it down and cleaned it up. (what I do after every gun purchase) So that very same day, I took it to the range (dad couldn't make it) But he wanted me to test it out. So I packed up the glock and the ruger and the taurus. I brought with me 2 boxs of winchester 115 grain (white box) 9mm The very first shot....Miss fired. From there I poped of 3 more rounds...Miss fired....This trend continued the full 45 mins at the range with the new taurus. Miss fires left and right. The ammo was about a year and to 2 years old and after inspecting the miss fired rounds....The firing cap was never hit....no markings at all!! Faulty firing pin? I would think the ammo should be good for atleast 5 years. Whats the deal? Has anyone eles had this issue? I feel like I just put my dads life in jeopardy and gave him false hope. If we were to send in the gun, would taurus send us a new one or fix the issue? I know theres a life time warranty. We are going to take it down to the range next week and give it another go.....but I'm starting to think...A Used glock 19 or 23 would of been a better way to go. Yeah I think I may have had just bad ammo or maybe a "lemon"? But I'm hoping it was the ammo, next time around I'm going to bring a fresh box of rounds... All in all the gun feels good in the hand and it's pretty light.....We will see what happens next time at the range. but if it doesn't fire when you need it to.....whats the point Last edited by Spaz218; 08-13-2007 at 02:07 PM. |

| Great gun
I have a 24/7 Pro 45 acp and love it. Great feel to it. Never had a single problem out of it and it is my choice of carry. I've put several different branda of ammo through it to see how it would handle them and it performed flawlessly with each brand.

I wonder out of all units manufactured what is the percentage of failure. And ; from that number, what external, if any, factors that contributed to the failure. Then there are the general, FUBARS, SNAFU's, Murphy's Law, acts of God, General Dumbass, and the occasional Crap Happens. So I wonder how many weapons are simply the result of poor manufacturing, assembly, bad enginering, quality controll or did Jose push the wrong button on his CNC machine that day. And if they are that bad why does my gun work so good? Last edited by schu; 11-10-2007 at 09:19 PM. Reason: spelling |

Good point ! So...If 50% have had trouble with Taurus and 50% Have good ones and love them, seems like a high failure Rate...Maybe Jose needs to be fired !

I also have a pt145 and shoot low and left, but then again I do that with all my handguns, Glock 19 included, my problem is that I tend to jerk the trigger, as for function I have put close to 1000 rounds in my pt 145 and pt 99 each and neither has had one single problem, I just bought a pt140 but the weather has been horrible so I have yet fired it. but I think every gun has it squirks, I will never buy Sig again because I had one that had feed problems but there are people who say they are the greatest. so I guess it come down to personal prefrence and exsperiance.

One question, are you holding front site "dead on" or at yhe six o'clock hold at bottom of bull? This is a problem people have with these sites they are made to shoot with the 3 dots in line and front dot rite on the POI. Just asking. |
