| Not a Taurus hater, but
my first handgun purchase in 30 years was for a 85UL concealed hammer. It was to be my carry gun. Bought it in early March and I've had it in my possession for 5 weeks. The cylinder locks up and won't turn. Bullets are shaving on the left side of the forcing cone until it gunks up so bad it stops the action. My dealer sent it to Taurus. After about 2 months, they sent it back saying they "adjusted" it. When I tested it, it locked on round #6. Cleaned it off and tried again. On round #52, it locked up again. It's still back at Taurus. I have no doubt that most Taurus revolvers work just fine, but mine sucks. They should just replace it. Some of us who are upset with Taurus, DO own one. I wanted that revolver to work for me. I thought a lifetime warranty was great. I didn't realize the gun would spend its lifetime in repair. And every one of you would be upset if your first Taurus purchase turned out this way. I'm glad yours works for you. Wish mine had worked for me....

Let's see.....I've owned a Ruger Blackhawk, a Smith & Wesson .357, and a Colt Government Model, all which had problems when bought new that required a smith to fix. Everyone makes lemons from time to time, Taurus included. But I've owned three Taurus's and been lucky, they were all perfect.

I feel a Taurus is about the best gun you can get for the money. I will admit I like my Springfield XD better but it is twice the money. I love the Taurus Ultralite .38 and the millenium 9MM too.

If you just go take a peak in the "other" pistol forums here, you will see lots of posts on FTF and FTE., and QC issues as well. Guns are tools, and a specfic stamp on it doesn't make it do its job any better.

It all comes down to bang for the buck. Taurus scores well there.

The Sig and Glock (especially the Sig) have been the best at minimal FTF's for me, but they've happened at some point in every semi-auto I've fired.

i dont have a tausus but i dont hate them at all, they make good guns for the money, and even have a few inovative(sp?) guns like the judge. nothing wrong with taurus in my book.

| Brand loyalty is hard to sustain these day's.
I just purchased a Taurus 24/7 oss 9mm. I shoots great and is very easy to use. I have bought many firearms that not only don't shoot well, but just plain don't work. Alot of them where big name high priced firearms. In this super fast high production world, lemons are going to get through leaving disgruntled customers who will swear off their products forever. I have a few myself. I can't blame the haters but on this one I'm a happy taurus owner.

Haven't really fired that many rounds through it. It started spitting lead from the cylinder, sent it in and they replaced the crane. Now the cases are staying stuck during extraction-very stuck! I sent it in on Jan 15,2008, They cannot find the parts, so a 44 replacement is in progress, however, it is Tauruses policy to send it to an FFl dealer and all DOJ and state requirements must be met. Only problem is that dealers fees are flexible, some as high as $125. Returning my original firearm (CAL)requires the same, how the h--- can the DOJ force an owner to buy their own gun back?

Bottom line is Taurus makes guns that are as good as any and better than most.

What about that 24/7 .45 anyone have one of those? I want one for two reasons, Budsgunshop.com has them for $340 and it holds 12 rounds, put that together and thats better than a glock.

I've owned hundreds of guns over the years and have had Glocks, Colts, S&W, Kahr, Sig not work and only 1 Taurus not work. A model 65 3" revolver was broken NIB and it went back to dealer and was replaced. Percentage wise, I've had a lower % of defective Taurus firearms fail to work than some of the more popular & expensive brands. And to give Taurus credit, they build guns that we want and that others either don't build or the others wait until after Taurus has built it to then start making one. Taurus can't build enough Judges and where are the "Big Boys"? No S&W or Ruger 410 revolver. Why not?

Well, here we are, halfway through August! Exactly seven months later and all I get is crap excuses from Taurus. They promised me a 44 Tracker to replace my 66 357 mag which had a bad cylinder. One excuse is they were waiting fo a cylinder, next it is being shipped from Brazil, next it is being manufactured in Brazil etc! Later waiting for shipment, next a Tracker replacement waiting for FFL,then waiting for cylinder and who authorized the replacement,Now they won't aknowledge recieving fax copies of FFL's. If it does come through , one dealer would charge me $65.00. Their customer service is definatly lacking in the proffession!

I think the bottom line is, for the majority, they were soured on Taurus many moons ago, and you will not convince them otherwise.

PT91 thats because the judge is an answer to a non existent problem.
What does it do that other well made ccw guns can't? the 45 colt is no better than a 38sp in the stopping dept and the 410 is useless past 10'. Don't get me wrong its better than a stick. But it fills a void that doesn't exist.
Redbeernuts compareing a 24/7 to a glock just because its cheaper makes it better.
ya right. If you like them great go hard. Their warranty and QC is smoke and mirrors so if you get a good 1 great if you get a bad 1 good luck and I told you so.

The .45 Colt is much more powerful and better than the .38 Special in terms of stopping power.
I do agree with you about The Judge, I don't like the entire concept.
