Rod | UPDATE: 22 Sept,2008. Took the pistol out to the range and ran ten diiferant loads through it, all did great from specials, plus P's and a few magnums. Weights from 220 to 245 did well, even with mostly cast bullets with no leading. Very accurate for the three inch rifling. Hammer pull is a little heavy and the trigger is a little wide but overall it is a great piece.

Yes Taurus is made in Brazil but so are Springfield Armories!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!I have a ROSSI 357 snubby made by Taurus and it is very well made and rugged. I carry it CCW. They sell them for less than the Taurus versions but are the same.

Happy Ending. Finally. Sounds like they're getting better from recent reports of customer service.

I have owned many Tarus and Smith hand guns. Tarus had some quality control issues as did Smith. For the money Tarus is a good buy, if you want to employ South American workers instead of American workers. Smith is more money i agree, but with the way things are going we need all the mfg. jobs we can keep HERE not ship them somewhere else.

Let 'em hate. I can't change their minds, they can't change mine.

I whole heartadly agree about keeping jobs in the USA but what drives crazy is that people like the uaw think $40 an hour is a living wage . Did they ever stop to think what that price does to there "fellow americans" ? Dont know about you but im sick of paying $50,000 for a four wheel drive pickup that should cost 30 tops.I dont want to make any uaw members mad but Im sick of the crap that we as americans do to americans in the name of self preservasion!!!!

| That is exactly why a Taurus can be cheaper, and yet still have good quality. (But every gun snob out there would have you believe if a firearm is less than $500 it is total crap) I think that we have priced ourselves out of many jobs, and then claim that Americans should support keeping jobs here. I am all about keeping jobs here, really. Yet also think about how many jobs buying a Taurus, I can afford adds to the economy? Several from importation to final sale. Then on the other hand, how many jobs does not buying a Smith and Wesson because I can’t afford it add? |

| Taurus- The Hyudai of guns
Taurus makes fair guns, I give them that. I owned and still do for the moment, a PT111 (non-pro). After about 500 rounds over several years, the disassembly latch broke; it's just a little switch in the side of the gun that unlocks the top slide for removal. I am not sure why it broke, but that is when I found out exactly what a polished turd Taurus really is. I will not go into the details of my dealings with their so called customer service. To sum it up, 10 phone calls, nearly 3 hours total (most of which was on hold listening to hold-music that was like acid to my ears), and a time span from Nov 2008 to March 2009, I still do not have anything from them. Everytime I called I got different story, but was told it would ship now or soon. And yes, I was exteremly nice and polite with the please and thank you on every call, even the last. Now I have a $325 Taurus paper weight. Maybe I can trade it in for $25 toward another Glock; My Glock-17 has been flawless to date.
Lesson is, check out a manufacturer's customer service feedback from level headed folks before buying. Should you ever need a part with a Taurus, chances are you are SOL. Even defunked Cobray can send a part out the first time you call!
Granted, a revolver, inclusive of Taurus will most likely never break unless you use it for a hammer. Some folks however, want a gun that is beyond 19th century technology.

I've had a bunch of Taurus'. Had minor problems with a PT22 and an 85 UL. Both were cheerfully fixed in a timely manner by Taurus in MIAMI. Unlike the last S&W I sent back. I finally called and insisted on talking to the Pres. (at the time) of S&W. He returned my call in an airport terminal, in between plane changes. In 2 days, my gun was home, fixed!

Bought new Taurus model 941 ultralite .22 WMR first Monday of this year. Took it out to fire and found that it jammed after a few shots also casings were hard to get out. Was using new boxs of .22 WMR CCI Maxi-Mags. Sent it back to Tauras called them today after 2 months went by and they say they are waiting on a cylinder. They can not get their own parts. Bought it for backup protection and had I known that others had this problem and they had not made any fixes or extra parts for this common problem I would picked another brand. Why would Taurus not be able to get their own parts? Do they sub out to China?

I love my Taurus Titanium Tracker 4in. 357. Since I carry and use it so much I sold my 6in. Python to a collector. Seriously thinking of a 24/7 pro 9mm.

I called NAA, and they said there was something about CCi 22 mag case heads that was different from other brands. They told me to return the gun and they would fix it to use the CCI, which they did. Not sure what the fix was, but it worked
Now, I haven't dealt with Taurus svc dept in years; but I hear discouraging things about them lately. I just got a new Judge, and have called them/left messages for 2 wks with no response; and I just wanted some info; I'm not having any particular issues with the gun itself.
So, good luck!

Just my .02 worth, but I own a PT1911 and I love it. Hard ball, hollow point, doesn't matter, it'll eat anything. I carry it as my off-duty gun and I trust it.

I have a few Taurus pistols and won't part with them. Still feel bad about not buying American, but we do price ourselfs out of a job, as the UAW have showed us. Where do we draw the line?
