What I STILL can't understand is when people buy a BRAND NEW GUN...have a problem other than ammo-related with it...and they then WILL NOT DEAL with the company or even funnier, refuse to send it back for servicing.

If you buy a brand new car, and have a quality issue, do you NOT take it to the dealership also???

I've taken 3 Ruger's back in so far, all came back repaired...never had to send a Taurus back...never had to send a Marlin back...never had to send a Glock back...never had to send a High Point back.

I swear most complaints about Taurus & many others are because they are AFRAID to send 'em back when there is a real issue that can't be handled at the Gun Store level.

When I buy new, I buy from a gun store with a Gunsmith that works there...if they can't service what they sell, I walk. Any shop gunsmith should be able to handle the basics of Gunsmithing to resolve basic problems ON SITE...and further be able to send it in and help you understand & deal with the Company reps when you DO have an issue.

I think KW's offer is fair but none of the Taurus haters will agree.

Bought a PT 1911 after doing a lot of research and talking to a lot of people.
Seems the concensous is the Cust Svc sucks. OK, I'll live with it and pay for any repairs at my local gunsmith. If I have a mojor and it can't be fixed locally then it is NFG to me and I;ll send it back and deal with the factory.
This will have to be something like the slide or frame breaking in half. Any part failure can be replaced.

To date i have had zero issues. It eats everything I've fed it and shoots well.

The "old guard" at my range have given it a thourough inspection and all have been complimentary. This coming from a group which shoots old Colts, Springfields and Kimbers. They alll put at least on mag thru it and felt it is a good value with a lot of premium features they've had to pay extra for.

As for the haters, who needs em'? Nuke em' till they glow!

^ My PT-1911 was a good deal and great shooter (with the nice wood grips although I got some aftermarket nicer ones).

It did have a problem with the trigger/sear/hammer. Occasionally after squeezing the trigger it would go fully aft with a "click" and drop the hammer only slightly. Recycling the hammer wouldn't usually fix but a tap n' rack would give a bang.

Their customer service fixed it fine, but it was a long time from door to door--about 8 weeks or more. My Smith was back in 2 when I had it fixed.

My taurus revolvers have functioned perfectly without a hitch and been great guns. The judges have been great (and they make great home defense or car guns but not IMHO CCW guns 'cuz they're too big) but to be honest I'd probably look at a Charter Bulldog for a CCW revolver before a similar model Taurus..

The more I hear posative feedback about the Judge the more I see one in my future. I've promised myself I am going to slow down on my gun buying but I just might need a Judge. If nothing else, they seem fun.

I have a 24/7 in .40 S&W that I have put 300 rounds through so far with zero problems other than one incidence of FTF that was caused by the rounds not being properly seated to the back of the magazine. Other than that, no issues. I am not as big on brand names as I am on accuracy, and reliability. Can I hit what I am aiming at and when I squeeze the trigger does it go bang? So far, my Taurus does both flawlessly.

I have a PT92AF with the rail and I just shot over 900 rounds over a three day period during a NRA Law Enforcement Instructor school without a single issue, there were others shooting Beretta, Colt and HK that had issues, stove pipes, double feeds, failure to go into battery, but not my Taurus. Since I have owned this weapon I have put at least 4,000 rds through it without an issue. I have found in 21 years in the military and the past 8 years working Corp Security and Firearms instructor, most failures are due to lack of maint or the operator not the weapon. Just MHO

I don't know if this would give any more validity to my opinion....but here is what I shoot:

...and I think the .454 Raging Bull is just as fine of a gun any of those I currently own, at a much better value for the price.

What do you think is wrong with a Taurus revolver?

NOTHING as far as I am concerned, my llittle 605 has been a dandy right from the get go, and the DA trigger pull has smoothed up quite nicely.

It's my late evening jogging gun

Nothing says my 25+ year old model 66 what still shoots well. But my Raging Bull .454 Casull is a bit much firing off a box of fifty. (Though that's a GOOD thing!)

I agree with you Ganny. When Tex and I went for a pistol shoot this past spring, him with his Glock, and me with my meager 23 year old Taurus PT99...just ask him who made the smarter purchase dollar for dollar? He shot my PT99, and I believe with a (BIG GULP) he would admit it.

Gun snobs...who needs em?

I own two Taurus, a 24/7 Pro 45 and a model 66 357. Both have proven to be excellent guns. The 357 is 20+ myears old and still shoots grea. The only modification to it has been the addition of Pachmayer Americna Legend grips. The 24/7 Pro 45 ACP has been a great gun, shoots, feeds, ejects just fine. I wonder if all the peoploe who bash guns online have ever actually fired one of the models they talk about? I bought a Hi Point because I was curious, it's a C9. This is a fun reliable gun to shoot, absolutely no problems. It was very inexpensive and goes bang every time. I have other guns made by Smith, Colt, and some long guns, I tend to shoot and own what I like and what works like it should. So....there it is!

My issue is with Taurus's customer service..

I sent my rifle in for repair.. they received it around Apr. 15th (depends on whom you talk to which date it was!)

They never called me, I had to keep calling on my dime (not a toll-free #).. finally found out the gun was not repairable and I would get a replacement and a call about it from an "expediter".. I called several times and was told they would "e-mail" this "expediter" to call me.. finally someone patched me through to him.. I was asked what kind of gun and caliber I wanted for replacement ( pistol or revolver).. then to look on their website and choose a model.. emphasizing they had some with pearl grips and rosewood grips.. I chose one.. left a message on the expediter's voice mail.. then after 3 days called again.. he never got my message (hadn't checked them yet) .. and no, he didn't have that pistol available to send me.. gave me the same but w/o the pearl grips.. ok.. said that was available.. that was back in June.. I call, all I get is they don't know when they will send it.
In the meantime, I find out my gun dealer has issues also with a pistol he sent back that Taurus destroyed and never called him about! They told him that a replacement will be sent, but right now they have to keep up with the distributor's demands!!!!!
So once you buy a gun from Taurus, you're no longer special.. they just don't care!!!!

I understand Taurus CS takes a lot of heat and it can get frustrating, but to date I have had no issues with either of mine and hope I never do. FYI here is the Taurus toll free number: 1-800-327-3776. This is courtesy of the taurusarmed website and according to the moderator has been tested and is a valid number.

UGH.. I wish I saw your post Friday when I called Taurus again!!! Thanks for posting it.. I'll mark it down..

I called Friday and the CS rep said nothing was added to my file after "I would call back with my choice".. so I told him about my conversation with the "expediter" and what was settled on.. he checked, said the gun was available and would e-mail to have it shipped to me.. now if he emails the expediter, I don't expect anything soon.. I don't know who he emails the info to.. When I asked if I would get my gun sometime this week, he said "hopefully".. keeping my finger crossed!

Haha! I was working with my boss' son in law the other day and got to talking about guns. He said he's got a Jennings .380 and its the best little .380 he's ever seen. He said he can tear up a bullseye at 25 yards.

I kept my laughter to myself.

Even though I know I'd never own a Bryco/Jennings/Raven/Lorcin unless it was given to me...there are those who have taken the time to hand-fit those El Cheapo Grande's to where they work properly...for awhile

I might futz around with one just for giggles...but I'd more than likely use it as a trade-off gun to get around the Brady Wait when I found a NICE deal on a pistol of some type.
