I have a Taurus PT 58 S I picked up at a friend of mine's Pawn Shop. Had little wear and the price was right. The somewhat fat hardgrip fits perfectly in my larger hands and the thing is accurate as hell. Haven't had a jam yet and put 50 (minimum) down the barrell every month.

So, my experience tell me that the weapon (model, at least) works for me.

Can't complain.

Like I said at page 1 of the post, my 23yr old PT99 9mm, can shoot with most of the pistols costing hundred$ more. And by the way, not says me. So said the GUN EXPERTS, in many a gun magazine before I purchased it. Rock on brother Ganny
It is a simple case of I spent too much for mine, thus your Taurus is crap.

As with all brands there are gems, if you got 1 congrats.
It is a rarity these days with everyone trying to find ways to cut costs.

20 years ago, I had a 4" barreled satin nickel Model 66 that I shot in some local IPSC matches. 1000 rounds a month for 3 months and not a single issue. I later sold it to pay for my CZ75. Now I have PT145 that's taking some getting used to, going from the form-fitting grip of the CZ to the Taurus's Glock-style blockyness, but I'm gradually getting used to the feel. It's picky about the bullet shapes it will feed, but with one that it likes, it's absolutely reliable.

Yeah, whoever got the idea that a guy making $18 an hour can afford to buy stuff made by guys who make $40?

Have a Pt 101 and just got a new pt 709 slim. Both of them are very reliable. I shoot them both once a week at the range and put about 100 rounds through both of them. The 709 is my new CCW gun.

I wish Illinois trusted it's citizens enough to carry. Seriously considering moving for that and other stupid gun laws.

But my two Taurus pistols keep rocking on!

I'll weigh in on the pro Taurus side! I have a PT1911 and a Raging Bull in .44 mag and I absolutely love them both! Who said decent products have to be outrageously expensive?

I'm headed out to shoot it tomororrow.

Thanks!
Mine was new in 2002. It is tight, shoots fine & if I had any criticisms it would be, the takedown is "tricky" in that you have to follow directions to take it apart and put it back together. Once you READ THE DIRECTIONS, than FOLLOW THE DIRECTIONS, not an issue! It's a stone reliable gun & I like mine!

I love both my Tautus handguns. I've made this offer many times before and never had anyone take me up on it: "If it bothers you that much to have such a poor gun PM me for my dealer's address. I'll be glad to take it".

Let me join the pro-Taurus faction as well. My 689 wheel is still turning after 16 years. Admittedly I had the cylinder and hand replaced at around 5500 rounds. 95% of those were top end loads, ranging from 110 to 180 grainers. My only gripe I have with it, is the zebra wood panels, my hand is bit large and after a range session my middle finger is a bit hammered.

I've heard a lot of good about Taurus. I don't care what brand is the subject, you will always hear someone bad mouth it. I wish they had a commander size 1911.

Guys as you know in the Southland we were born with guns in our cribs :>) In the 1950's if I was going hunting after school I took my gun and put it in my wall locker. Either shotgun for rabbits or rifle for squirrels. My how things have changed. I live in South Carolina because of the low taxes, gun friendly state, and a CCW costs you $50.00 for 5 years :>) but I pay zero because I am a disabled veteran.
