I'll take a Taurus over a Glock any day. I have 2 Taurus's and love them all. I have a Titanium .357 hammerless snubby I love and a Millennuim .45 too. I had a Millennium 9MM I sold and regreted it the second I sold it. The latest Taurus in my collection is my Slim. I've only made one range trip and put a couple hundred rounds through it. Mixed ammo, FMJ WWB's, hand loads, and Golden Sabers. All went great.

I will admit I like my Springfield 1911 A1 a bit better than my Taurus's but the 1911 was $800 and the Taurus's were $275, $325 and $370. I have never shot a Taurus 1911 but I hear nothing but good about them.

Taurus is a great gun at a cheap price. Glock is a cheap gun with a high price.

Hello
I like my Taurus pistols. I have a PT-140 Mil. Pro. and I had a PT-24/7 but I traded it for a Glock 19 3 gen. could not pass that deal up. Would I buy another Taurus gun yes in a heart beat.

Twenty FEET! nobody really shoots at such short ranges do they? Here's another picture of what my POS 12" barrelled 66 can do at 25metres. Single hand, gay pistolero pose/stance. (The .22 holes are from my 12" buckmark pistol 40 plinking & 10 serious)

Thanks for the pics !

Most defensive shooting happens much closer and faster than people with training would want--and you can miss from some pretty ridiculously close distances (we've had some shootouts here with some pretty huge miss rates--on the order of close to 100 rounds sometimes--but then again the perps were moving; sometimes in a car; and shooting back).

Depending on which statistics you use (and these are always dubious but I believe the sources to be correct) as much as 88% of our shootings occur within 21 feet (7 yards). AND most folks getting shot at and shooting back have shots which miss even within this range (this is a compelling reason for a Taurus Judge).

Having said that, a recent article about the LE who stopped the Fairchild killer had him taking handgun shots at 70 yards or so--so there's good reason to practice both for the long and short game as it were.

But if you're looking for the training most likely to fit most scenarios--at least here in the U.S.-- I believe it to be getting a faster sight picture (or coarse sight alignment) and getting the gun into action at a closer range while still scoring good hits.

Certainly do practice everything though. And long range target shooting/hunting is FUN !

taurus haters or lovers

i own 2 revolvers. 7 shot chrome 4" 357 and an 83/8 454 raging bull. both are very good shooters but the bull had an internal frame pin broken. sent bach to miami and it took a very long time for any response even after several phone calls. finally they said it would be reviewed for replacement. after several more weeks and phone conversations i recieved a new one. upon opening of box i immediately noticed barrel and frame were scratched very horribly. contacted them again and was assured after several minutes of complaining that they would send fed ex tomorrow morning and they would repair asap. after a couple of months of more dissatisfaction i recieved the pistol back semi repaired. didnt dare send it back againTHEY DO NOTHING ASAP!!!. every contact i talked to (probably at least a dozen and most several times) were very nice and considerate of my situation but when it came to it their service is REALLY BAD EVEN IF IT WAS LIFETIME GUARANTEED

Is that holding at 6 o:clock with the Buckmark? Because here is what my Buckmark did.

I had a nice target photo of what my Taurus 66 .357 mag did that looked even better than that. Fifty rounds and one ragged hole, with NO flyers! But I switched from Comcast to AT&T and had the photo on the Comcast site.

Bummer.

I have a Taurus PT92 AFS....yep, the shiny silver one (no, no gold accents or pearl grips)....and I really like it. It shoots well (better than I can) and has never missed a beat no matter the fodder I feed it. I did add a 16# recoil spring and have no issues with shooting Gold dot +P occasionally and loading with that for home defense.

If you think the Taurus gets a bad rap try my Bersa T380...again, a pistol that gets lots of backhanded comments until I let someone shoot it at the range. Even my CZ's get nasty comments in some circles and I would put any of those up against almost any out of the box pistol for accuracy and reliability and I never have to wonder are they "strong enough"...I shoot the Taurus a lot..I enjoy it...and I trust it.

I bought a PT 24/7 Pro C in 40 S&W just over a year ago and have put nearly 1000 rounds thru it with no malfunctions. The only problem, a FTF, I've ever had was my own fault. My thumb is long enough to reach the mag release on the left side and when I'm gripping the pistol tight I accidently ejected the mag. My stablizing hand kept it from falling completely out and I didn't even notice it had dropped just enough that it failed to feed the next round. I moved the eject button to the right side and have never had the problem again. I love this gun, it's small, light weight, stainless so there's no chance it's going to rust from sweat when I'm carrying it during the hot South Florida summer and it's pretty damn accurate too.

I have the Taurus Millenium 9mm, Taurus PT58HC Plus, in 380acp, that holds 20 bullets! (not a mis print!) The PT58HC and my PT92AFS (9mm) are both the chrome & polished alloy. All are great to shoot, completely reliable & all get used as often as I can find time. I have the Ceiner 22LR conversion kit for the PT92AFS & it too is fun to shoot. I have and shoot other guns, but this is a Taurus forum so that's my "2 cents" worth.

I recently got a Taurus PT145 Millineum Pro in .45. This bad boy can shoot!....Never had any feeding issues. IMHO, they work better with a full 230 grain load. I use Speer Gold Dot Short-Barrel. Have read the bashing comments. Some of the older Taurus semi-autos may have had some issues, but the newer models are working fine. I carry concealed almost everyplace I go. Gotta say I'd trust my life to this weapon. (In fact, I do.)To All the Taurus Haters-picture-006.jpg

I have a Millennium in .40 that I love. I have also shot a friend's 9mm Millennium a lot and loved it. Shooting his is what made me decide to get one.

Heres a Taurus story

For years I competed in military matches sponsored by veterans organizations.
I used various 1911's and did decently.

One day i managed to get a pre-owned PT1911.
I loaded the standard 200gr SWC Bullseye load for it and next match I
shot the highest score I ever did.
Top 25% of over 300 shooters.

To top it off Taurus has a LIFETIME warranty no matter who owns it.
First owner or more.

My slant on this arguement is that too many people think that if a gun is more expensive it MUST be better and also that an expensive gun will make up for their lack of shooting ability.

I now Captain a Marine Corps League shooting team and my biggest problem is getting these vets to LISTEN.

Invariably I instruct them in the PROPER way to shoot a 1911 but whenever we go to practice they always do the same bad habits they got used to over the years.

It's the same with a lot of shooters.

It's America and anyone can buy any make of gun they want.
Be free to spend a lot more than you have to to get a good gun.
That way you can join the testoserone club and brag that you have such and such a gun which makes you the big dog.

Then theres the guys that really look to see WHAT WORKS and they go with that.

If I was to recomment a 1911 that will hold it's own against some high ticket 1911's it would be the Rock Island Armory Tactical .
They sell here in SE Penna for about $450.
I own one and it's my backup for the Taurus that cost new about $575.
Good gun.

Sorry if I stepped on some toes here.
Didn't mean any disrespect.

I've got a 651 shrouded hammer .357 mag and I love it. bought it used and never had a problem with it (not too many problems available for a revolver though.) A little difficult to find a holster for it though.

Just because I want to know....why?

I would think having to load moon clips would take the fun out of it.

the only good thing about the 45acp revolvers is , that in a "revolver only class" of competition, these guns can be reloaded incredibly fast because of the moon clips. empties clear quickly and positively, and no need to fumble with speed loaders on the reload.

I don't hate taurus. Rather I am cautious about getting one lol. My father in law has the beretta 92 clone and it works great, he's never had a problem with it. I bought one of their 1911's and returned it the next day after taking it apart because of extremely poor machining on the barrel. I was worried that the gun would explode. And my brother in law has a .38 revolver from them that every time you pop the cylinder open the gun falls apart. I know that's not a hard fix, but still it leaves an impression lol.
