I own a model 608 .357 , 6'' barrel .I fired about 300 rds through it with no problems.I mainly keep it for home defense.I think its a real nice revolver, and I'm glad I own it. I have owned a Raven .25 (now that's a piece junk!) After about 100 rds the slide cracked. Last edited by patrick70; 04-17-2008 at 01:21 PM. Reason: Automerged Doublepost |

I own a Win. 63 but only shoot it occasionally. It works flawlessly, shoots everytime, and I get acceptable groups with it. I want to hand this gun down to my grandson. So I bought a Tarus 63 for my everyday target shooting. It has had approximately 200 rnds fired through it and it is still jamming about every 10th shot. I am shooting CCI .22's in it. Do I need to just keep shooting it? or dig a hole and bury it? Anyone else experienced this problem with the Tarus 63? Encouragement appreciated! lol |

Which CCI bullets? The ones that only weigh 25 grams might not be enough weight. Try the 32 Grain bullets with copper coating for smooth cycling through the action. Other than that, I have no Idea. I'd like to have one of those replicas one of these days because I can't afford an original model-63. Last edited by Dan22; 06-01-2008 at 11:28 PM. |

Try switching ammo. I like my ruger MK3 alot, but it does stovepipe about every 50-100 rounds or so with the federals (which are very accurate in my Smith Kit gun). 22 autoloaders can be pretty ammo sensitive--I don't worry much about it because I just use the pistol for target shooting, etc. Thorough cleaning might help too.

My experiences with Taurus are mixed. PT1911 Good gun right from the box Several PT 92's POS- Many stoppages, P-poor accuracy C45 Thunderbolt Humongo POS, Mag spring too weak, You have to be hercules to cycle the action, Mainspring too strong hammer wont let bolt slide, poor workmanship Several DA revolvers, Poor fitting of parts, once action is cleam=ned up the worked well. Can't get parts, they want the gun back..probably a liability issue. All in all from personal experience i'd buy a pt 1911, it's hard to screw up a 1911A1. Smith and Wesson and Colt are the only makers of DA revolvers, I'd buy a Ruger if I had to.not that they aren't good guns I just don't like'em. SA revolvers are made by Ruger and US Arms (Colt) Semi's are made by Kimber, SIG, S&W, Colt,HK, Glock, Browning, Walther, FN, Springfield Armory, and a few moor you just have to figure out what you want a pistol for. This is simply my opiniogn guys so don't beat me up too much.

All I can say is my two Taurus revolvers are faultless. And the Model 66 .357 mag is Deadeye Dick accurate.

I think people poo-poo them based on their past reputation as cheap "South of the Border" guns. I was reading up on them, as I want to buy a 1911 .45. All the nay-sayers ought to read up on Tauras. They might find out that they make ALL their own parts inhouse now (unlike the other 1911's). They might also find out that their $1400 1911's will soon have Tauras parts that Tauras will be MIMing for them. All components from design board onward were completely integrated from the get-go: dimensioning, finishing, hardening, heat treating, choice of metals, manufacturing method, fit and finish--all as a single operating unit, designed by one engineering team. That's why you get so much for so little. They made it all to their own tolerances, in-house. Every single part was designed to be mated to every other single part. A local pistolero whose advice I trust implicitly when it comes to 1911's told me the Tauras was a piece of doo-doo. They have one in the shop for sale, so I asked him to disassemble it and show me why. After 30 minutes, he had changed his mind and said it was a lot of gun for the money. He said that the barrel bushing was somewhat loose. But not as bad as some Springfields. He also did say that it had a pretty good trigger out of the box. The PT1911 was $600+ here. If I bought a plane jane $600 anything else, I'd still have to spend another $500+ to swap out everything that the PT1911 comes with !!

I had a Stainess .44 special revolver several years ago. (I forget the Model #) After a couple of years it began misfiring. This is not good in a weapon I carry for personal defense. I thought it might be my hand loads so I began taking extra care seating my primers etc. The problem persisted, but only with that gun. So I returned it to Taurus for repair. After several months I had not heard any thing so I contacted Taurus about it. I was told they had no record of the gun. (This is where Keeping good records comes in handy) After numerous conversations and sending them copies of shipping papers they located the gun. After a couple of moore weeks I contacted them again and they finally told me the gun was out of production, and parts for it were not available. I asked them what they were going to do about it, since it has a "lifetime warranty" After several more conversations I got intouch with a gentleman there who seemed to care about customer relations. I am sorry to say I cant recall his name, because he was very helpful. I believe he was a VP if memory serves correctly. Any way he offered me a choice of a comparable gun. Actually a little better I think. I got an ultralite with a ported barrel. He promised it would be shipped out immediatly. 2 weeks later no gun. I called him back. For some reason it was not shipped. He promised it would be done that day. 2 weeks later, no gun. I called him back. He said he would take care of it himself. 2 days later gun arrived. I have been very satisfied with the gun. I was satisfied with this gentlemans concerne and efforts to help. I was not satisfied that it took about 6 months to get the issue resolved. That and the fact that at first no one seemed to know what was going on with my gun. Over all I would recommend Taurus to any one, just keep all paperwork involved with all transactions. At home I have the records of every letter, email and phone call. Also paper work showing the transfer of the guns involved, and the names of who I spoke to. I have not had any problems with any of my other fire arms, S&W, Colt Ruger, Remington, Stevens, just to name a few. | |

I was looking at buying the taurus 24/7, but I have to say even with the good comments about the company, The bad comments will have to make me say no thankyou. For every bad comment or I should say exspierience I hear about I need to hear at least ten good exspieriences. Hearing ten from the same guy doesnt do it for me. I never hear as much negative comments about colt, or springfield. So I guess im going to buy the XD instead. For those that love their Taurus pistols congratulations on getting a good product. Enjoy them, and I promise I wont hold it against you or look down on you. |

My PT92 is a workhorse and my high volume plinker of 150 rounds per session with no hand problems. I have carpal tunnel from my job and I find it painful to reload at the range. I have 3-17 round mags and a 30 round mag so I can avoid reloading at the range. One reload makes my hands buzz.

Here's my POS Taurus and a picture of what it can do with 148gn wadcutters at 25m. We are pretty restricted with the models available to us and Taurus was one company who rose to the challenge and builds these things for the British market. makemyday.JPG |

I have an older Taurus 94SS, 2-inch barrel, 9-shot, and it funtions flawlessly. However, I also just bought a BRAND-NEW Taurus Tracker 970SS, and one chamber on the cylinder can be turned BACKWARDS to the last chamber. In my opinion, the quality is really good, but they really need to work on their quality CONTROL. They need to inspect and test every single gun that leaves their factory, and it would save a lot of money on shipping people's broken/malfunctioning guns, wich in turn would allow more money to be spent on making better products. Just my 2 cents... |
