F Y I - The new 3" mag chamber gives an increase to five 000 projectiles per .410 round as opposed to only three in the 2.5"

Tough to figure the synergistic effects of the multiple wound channel at close range (which is what the gun is designed for). Pretty nasty, though.
You can load it with a combination of bird, buck, and .45LC tailored to your probable threat (snakes, varmits, animals, self-defense, etc). For general home defense, I think alternating buckshot and .45LC would be a pretty decent idea.

I'm new to the forum but after finding this site I'll have to frequent it. Just to add my 2 cents in about the Judge. I bought my 3" SS judge back in Oct of 07 and I really like it. I was going to buy a shotgun but I found this to be more yielding in close quaters and if needed its small for my wife to use. I usually keep it loaded with 2, 000 shot and 3, 45 colts. I use it when I go hiking and or to my camp site. I did use it in killing a copper head snake last summer. Shot it with a #6 shot at about 5 feet away and then to make sure at 3 ft. Worked just fine. I am in the market for a holster and I came across this site. http://www.grizzlytuff.com/
For those interested this fellow makes these holsters and they are like a shoulder type but they rest on your chest. This is something I would be interested in as I do lots of hiking. By the way I have a 1911 and a 380 auto as well. My nest gun I'm interested in is the new Taurus 800 series ...especially the 845

Doesn't the short barrel take a huge chunk out of the shell's power?

Would like to know if anyone knows a place to get a pair of exotic grips for the Judge?
Have not been able to find any other than the rubber finger grooved ones from Taurus.
I know its a personal preference thing but I like the look of laminated grips. | The only complaint I have with my 6.5" Judge is that my index finger
bumps the trigger guard. I learned that Hogue make a grip specifically
for the Taurus Tracker revolvers that includes the Judge. It is called
the Hogue Monogrip, Model 73000. Has a much larger space for
index finger, two finger grooves for other fingers and in easier to
reload with speedloaders. Costs are from $16.95 to $18.99. I have
one on order and hope this will work for me.

Better hope if you have to shoot at someone more than a few yards away that there is no one else in the area. It's another thing I don't like about the whole concept.

I was looking at one of these at a gun show the other day. I like the idea of the 6.5" barrel version. What is the difference in recoil between the .410 and .45 ammo. and the difference between shot shells and say.....410 slugs. I have never shot anything larger than a .357 magnum in a revolver, how would this compare to recoil on that.

| 3" ammo will not work in 2.5" chamber . . .
If I recall you stated in the other Judge thread that you just bought the 2.5" chamber - correct?
That ammo you asked about is 3" & will not work !!!

How much is it going for there, Mosineer? | I had a Taurus Tracker 44 mag with these grips. They soak recoil, but feel vague and squishy. I replaced them with Hogue rubber; it felt and handeled much better.

I've shot pretty much all that can be shot through it including .410 00 buck and Corbon +P JHP .45LC. The grip makes it comfortable to shoot, but if you relax your grip a might, the rear of the trigger guard wants to smack the top finger on the grip. With a good firm grip there is no problem. The 6 1/2" barrel holds the load together longer than they show in their video with the 3" of course, but you can definitely reach out and touch someone with .45LC rounds. So I think it is the best of two worlds, close in with .410 shot rounds and distance with the 45's. Fun gun that won't fit in your pocket, but rides well in a shoulder rig or in the car. All in all if you like something a little different and useful it will fill the need.

Handgrips for Taurus Trackers, Model 73000 - THAT WILL SOLVE

You may want to check with Taurus before shooting that stuff. Some of their 45LC ammo is comparable to and more powerful than standard 44 magnum ammo. In the manual that comes with the Judge, it says you should not shoot +p ammo in this gun. And buffalo bore is much more powerful than standard +p ammo. I bough some ammo from Georgia Arms and shot it and I am not sure I will shoot it again without calling Taurus first. The ammo I shot was 250 gr or 260 gr with a 1200fps. and it says only shoot in ruger, T/C and a couple other guns that shoot 45LC. The original 45Lc cowboy load was a pretty mild load. Anyway I am new to this site and was reading some posts on the Judge and thought I would put my 2 cents in. Very interested info. I read here on the Judge and hope to read some more on other guns as I am an avid gun lover. I have 14 pistols 12 rifles and a couple shotguns. | If you had ever read the Buffalo Bore Site, you would've read that they
understand +P 45 colts can be harmful to guns not suited for them.
You would also have read they offer two loading they call "standard
heavy loads, for the Non-+P 45 Colts in a Speer GD 200 gr at 1100
fps and a Keith style cartridge of 255 grs at 1000 fps. On the note
of +P's, I talked with a Corbon engineer that stated they shoot +P
45 Colts all the time in Judge revolvers they test and have had no
problems. However, he did state you can't put thousands of +P
through them. Reading other post, some people use +P loadings
in their Judges on a regular basis. You will have some significant
recoil, however.
