Not even close. Shooting .45 Colts after a few .454 Casulls is like shooting .38 special target loads out of a .357 magnum.

Love that .454.I always felt sceptical about the .44mag.in dangerous game country,I feel adequately armed with a 300gr bullet in a .454.The recoil is a little stronger but very manageable to me. sam.

I have a PAST shooting glove, and a pair of S&W shooting gloves. I like the S&W better, even though I only wear the right hand one.

Why did you choose 454 over 500 MAG? Curious

What about the 500 special? Suppose to be the 45 LC for 454 but for 500. ARE you reloading for your 454?

Yeah, I found a video of a guy shooting the Bull in 500 With 10 barrel and recoil wasnt as bad as you would think. I've got another video of a guy shooting contender it looks like in 50 and it flys right out of his hand. If I could figure out how to get the video on here you could see, pretty crazy sight. Theres another one shooting a bolt action 50 at a iron plate, looks like 100 yrds. or so the bullet bounces off the plate and comes back at the guy damb near takes his head off.
Gunny if you read this tell me how your getting your videos on here.
Thanks.

That's also why I went with it. Can load .45 Colt much cheaper than .454, and like billy said, with the 500, you have only the 500.

Great home defense/ pig/ bear hand cannon. Not from the faint of heart. Good advise from ezearlin, the old school ways should be remembered and taught.

A small word of caution on using the 454 as a home defense option, unless you live out in the country, cause the 454 is just like the Energizer Bunny: it'll go right through a person and then just keeps on going into whatever else is next...

Of course, now that I think of it, that would be a good thing in a situation where ammo was limited and targets were many...
