| How do I figure out the model of my Taurus?
I just got a pawnshop special, a used Taurus blued, .357 revolver with a four inch barrel, wooden grips. When I flip open the cylinder, on the part that flips out there is a 481 stamped roughly. Opposite if that is a messy stamp that looks like a 65. Is this a Model 65? How do I find it's date of birth? The only wear I can see is the nose of the barrel from being holstered. I haven't shot it yet, but have some ammo ordered. I always like trying a new gun. I have been shooting semi-autos and enjoying them, but came on this wheel gun and it felt right, though heavy. Thanks for your help. Dave |

You definitely have a Model 65. All Taurus revolvers have their model number stamped inside the crane. Call Taurus directly and they'll tell you what year it was made. I've got 5 .357 Taurus revolvers and love each of them. Never had any problem with any of them and they do shoot well.

Go to their web site and input the serial number. You will be told the model number year of manufacture...

Thanks. I'll let you know how it shoots as soon as the ammo I ordered on the internet arrives. Dave |
