My 2 Cents On Taurus

I have noticed several Taurus haters in this forum and I am not here to even try to change anyones mind. But for the guys that are asking questions and considering buying one I will tell you this honest truth. I own 4 of them a 24/7 Pro SS .40, PT140 Mill. Pro SS .40, .44 Tracker 4" blue and a .38 lite 2". I have never had a minutes trouble with any of these guns, nor have I ever had a FTF or FTL out both autos. The Ms. and I used the 24/7 to take our CHL test and out of all the guns that day, Glocks, S&W, HK's that I know of, Ours was the only one that did not have a FTF or a FTL and we shot 100 rounds where the others only had to shoot 50. So you can take this as you see fit, but it's honest and true.

I spoke with a Taurus hater in here. I PM'd him and asked why. He said he had a 24/7 that had a heavy trigger pull. After many attempts he said Taurus refused to address the issue. Dunno if it was a legitimate complaint. Another complint is that Taurus does offer warranty but charges high shipping fees. If that is so then that is a legitimate complaint. Bad customer service will earn you enemies. But some folks just like to complain.I think alot of Taurus' complaints are from people who think nothing new should ever break. That is unrealistic and I get tired of listening to folks like that. I know several brands that are cheap, ugly and poorly made(stamped metal) that I never see complaints about at all. It doesn't make sense. So Taurus I think has become a whipping boy.It may be because they're a big company and they have a very large product line so they have lots of complaints. If all you make is two guns and they both suck then the manufacturer would not amass large complaints because they don't have lots of customers.

I like my Taurus and I'd buy another.

Another trend I see here is that 99% of the people complaining about the Taurus have never owned one.I get alot of "I have read" or "I have heard". Offering opinions based on hearsay is ridiculous.

I try to keep an open mind when it comes to offering opinions to newbies asking about guns. I always give my preferences based on my experience with a particular firearm.

Hey I don't like Hi Points even though I have never shot one, but you'll never hear me bad mouthing them to a newcomer based off someone else's view of them.

I said in the other thread about Taurus that I love my PT1911 and love my 9mm PT11 Mil. Never had a single problem out of either. Speaking of Hi-Point, I did have a .40 cal, don't remember the model, but it was all steal. Very heavy, very loud, but reliable to say the least. Good thing about it, if I ran out of rounds in a defense situation I could always throw the gun at the attacker and hope to hit him in the head with it. A little joke but man that gun was heavy.

I'm coming down there Son...
Look at Ar15.com posts about Taurus...about 50% are UNHAPPY with Taurus Quality, and Service. What do you say when an Unhappy Customer brings a New gun back that locked up after 1/2 box of shells ?
Some of you May own Taurus Guns that haven't failed yet, But there are a Lot of Unhappy Customers that bought Taurus Pistols and had nothing but Problems with not only the Gun but The factory Customer Service.
I will state again...I refuse to risk My life on a gun with 50-50 odds of Breaking or not firing when My life depends on it.
From Years of Gunsmithing, I personally Have had More Taurus guns come in for Repair than ANY Other major brand at least 5 to 1...I am speaking from experience and personal observations as to what I have seen Inside of Revolvers and Semi-autos as far as machining and Parts..
You can all buy all the Cheaper Taurus Guns you want...I will stick with my Rugers, Colts, Kimbers, Smiths, and Makarovs, and Guns that I feel suit my survival needs in one of the harshest Environments in the world.

I have a Taurus PT100 in 40, nickel plated. The only complaint I have are the two mags. that came with it. They have a goofy-kinda coil spring built into the follower and it causes a lot of feed problems if I fail to drown it in oil. I've not been able to find reg mags for the taurus so far. Does anyone know where I could get a couple
(other than Taurus)??

Makarovs aren't necessarily high dollar firearms; but a fine firearm for the money none the less. Mooseman I can respect your opnion as being one in the trade and having a personal experience with the firearm.

Ah the old story of the Taurus that locked up. You guys must pass that one around to each other in Ar15.com.

Basically, you are calling me a Liar, which shows only narrowmindedness where True experience with Titanium Taurus revolvers is concerned... I'm not even a member of AR15.com, but I have read the posts !
It is Not an Old story...It is a true story from other people as well as my own HANDS ON Experience.

Really you guys no need for bashing each other because of some people dont/do like Taurus, personally I hear all this bad stuff about them lately since ive joined the forum but for the ones who do love them ive had one since 2004 and it was my grandmothers who used it for 28 year working at securitas security and it is very very very used, oh did I mention it is very used. It might just be the revolvers but Taurus has one of the smoothest firing most reliable guns I have ever owned(Taurus Brazil 38 special revolver with blued finish and checkered wood grips).

I wish I could say that. Suffice it to say I no longer own the said gun.

Yeah, well we see nothing is going to change your mind. But that doesn't alter the fact I would trust my Taurus 66 .357 magnum 100% in any situation, and would for the entire 22 years I have owned it. I won't change my mind, either, so I guess we're both just stubborn mules.

I can't say I have any experience in dealing with Taurus as far as customer service. I will say I shot a ton of rounds through my PT111 9mm Mil. and never had a single issue, and I bought the gun used. I did get rid of it even though I would love to get another just like it. I have only run a couple box through my PT1911 but have had no issue so far. It does seem to wear a little harsh on the blueing where the action slides. It is a tight fit though. We will see how it holds up over the next year or so. I would concider either of them reliable. I get hazed by a buddy of mine that is a huge Glock fan all the time though about my Tauruses. Not as bad as the hazing he gave me while I held a Hi-Point though. I called it my man-cannon cause I think it weighed like 10lbs. (Exaggeration)
