I also went with the .454 Casull Bull. For pretty much the same reason as billy. Plus the lead is cheaper.

A lot of my guns are dual caliber. I had a .400 Cor-Bon barrel for my 1911 .45 auto until I bought the 10mm. My Sig P229 has both the 40 S&W and the 357 Sig barrels. My Taurus .357 mag also fires 38 specials. My Ruger .44 mag also fires .44 specials and .44 Russian. And my Taurus Rging Bull fires both the .454 Casull and .45 Colt. I love variety.

I have not shot the Smith & Wesson, but I have a Taurus 10" 500 Mag and it shoots very nicely. It is very heavy, so the recoil is not too bad. It is a little hard to swing around and lock on target fast. I'll admit that I do not shoot magnum rounds; 350 grain XTP/Mag bullets, 40 grains of H110.

I was planning on hunting with it, but I can not seem to find a decent holster. Also, since I found out that it was discontinued, I have not shot it. I think I've only shot 55 rounds. It is the only hunting pistol that I have with iron sights.

I've been shooting my Encore with a 15" 460 S&W Barrel, but I shoot 454 Casull bullets. I've also been shooting my 9.5" Ruger Super Redhawk 454 Casull, even though they discontinued that one as well.

when i use 45 l.c. in my bull i can put that ammo in both of my sixshooters as well as my levergun.
now all i need is a 454 casull levergun and the circle will be complete!

If you go to the 460 S&W you can shoot the 460, 454 Casull & 45 Long Colt. There is also a company you can send the cylinder to and for something like $300 they will machine it and supply moon clips so you can shoot 45 ACP. But, you have to use the moon clips for everything.

I wish taurus would make the 460. I will end buying a Smith otherwise.
