I don't know how much extra the grips are adding, but you should be able to get one of these (w/o laser grips) for $575-ish. I do know that they get RAVE reviews. Great gun!!

| At the ACE Hardware in Cayce? They have good prices. Are you getting thr PT1911 for a carry gun? That's a big gun especially compared to a Tomcat. $720 is a nice price since the laser usually goes for $215. ACE had the lowest price on the Taurus 1911 in the Columbia area back in November.

Not really looking to use it for a carry. I really like the 1911, and just wanna use it at the range. My husband might use it as a carry. He carries his Beretta 92FS, I would prefer the tomcat or my taurus 9mm Last edited by SCGirl; 01-09-2008 at 08:22 AM. Reason: Automerged Doublepost | |

(disclaimer: they can be a little dangerous, and they do sting like hell) The guy across the hall shot me in the side Friday from about 8 feet. Ouch.

| Seen the grips themselves on ebay for $199 buy it now and that included shipping. So $720 with them seems like a good deal.

720 including the grips is a good price. $500 is the cheepest I have seen them since I got mine at Bass pro for $479 last may. They raised the price $90 one week after I got mine. As for the gun it self You can not get a better 1911 for under $1000 anyone that bashes the taurus does not have one. I would bash it too if i paid two to three times as much for the same quality of gun.

As I've told SCGirl, I've wanted a 1911 pistol my whole life, and up until I saw the PT1911 my pistol of choice was the Springfield Armory 1911. Now, however, seeing the rave write-ups on the Taurus and taking into consideration that the Taurus WITH the laser grips is about the same price as the SA pistol WITHOUT the laser grips, I've changed my mind! Right now I'm planning on picking up the pistol on the way home from work tomorrow, and I can't wait until Friday when we're both off so we can go to the range and shoot it! As SCGirl said, I regularly carry a Beretta 92FS in 9mm with TWO extra magazines and have no problems making it disappear; I have three holsters for it and have been carrying it as my primary CC weapon since 1993. So I figure I won't have any trouble making the PT1911 vanish either, especially since it's slimmer than the 92FS and a bit lighter. We'll be sure to post an "after range" report on Friday! |

| Please do. Let us know if it shoots any differently the first few rounds, before it's "broken in." Post a pic. of it, too !!

we fired it yesterday..I only shot once, and it scared me a bit. The recoil is pretty hefty, and i don't trust my skills yet with it...he loved it..I don't know the specifics, i am sure he will post about it...but I know he said its his new favorite pistol!

Awww, and all this time I thought it was YOUR new pistol. Heck, my Browning 9mm kicks almost as bad as my SA 1911A1 GI. But of course, I soup up my 9mm reloads. Don't need to for .45.

Is there any MINE once you are married? LOL I wanted it, WE bought it, and I need to get over the fear of the recoil. How do you soup up the reloads? Last edited by SCGuy; 01-25-2008 at 11:19 AM. Reason: woops!! I (SCGirl) posted under SCGuy!! |
