24/7?

I was talking to a friend who currently has a Taurus 24/7 in .40 cal. I'd say it has less than 100rds through it and certainly less than 200. It's probably 3 years old and he said he has cleaned it regularly. Last time I saw it, the exterior still looked new. It comes with two 15rd mags. He's wanting to upgrade to a Glock(probably model 22) in a few months and wanted to know if I'd take the Taurus because it would be a lot easier than him selling it to someone he doesn't know. He wants $300 for it. My question is, would it be worth it? I'm leaning towards no simply because these pistols have a bad reputation in general(wish I'd have known that when he bought it) and I don't want to deal with it breaking on me and possibly injuring me or someone else, not to mention a loss of $300.

The price sounds right at least. I had massive feeding issues on my 24/7 Pro in .45, I am told some the them came with magazines that needed spring replacements (?). I never verified that before I got rid of it, so I am the wrong person to endorse that piece.

I have not heard of them failing in the permanent and spectacular way you hint at, but if they fail in a dangerous way (other then feed issues I mean) I would not consider one. If he really wants to dump it, it might be worth $300 in trade in at the next show towards his glock. But reading your post it sounds like your a little hesitant anyway, so you will probably never be happy with it and end up trading it away.

G&A and various Internet reviews raved about the 24/7 Pro, for whatever that is worth to you.

So far as I know, he's never had feed problems. I've shot it a little bit and it seemed to pretty good as far as I remember...and so far as the gun show goes, he's never been to one and would probably be hesitant to go to one, so I doubt that'd work. Oh well. I'll figure something out. I've been leaning towards a Glock 22 or 1911 clone myself.
