Now for the second part of the story - I was at the range and the guy next to me was shooting a PT-945. He ask me to shot it to check the accuracy as he was kinda new to pistols . To my surprise that PT-145 shot great! I guess it is luck of the draw. I also had a 24/7 - accuracy was not that good with it either. My little Tuarus 85 is very accurate for a short revolver. So, I guess I am generally confused by Taurus - I don't know whether to like em or hate em. I am sure though that I will never love them. |
Yes, my 911 is not exactly a tack driver either, I'd rate it's accuracy as OK, but not good, whereas my PT-92 was great. I was curious when I took it apart to find that it had neither a locking block like the PT-92 or a barrel link like a 1911, rather the barrel seems to be held in place by spring tension alone and pivots into locking position in some mysterious way I can't figure out. This does not seem like a design that is conducive to accuracy. As you said, some may be great, some may suck. Mine seems so-so, but after many years without shooting, it's possible I'm just a crummy shot now. More practice will be needed before I can tell.
It has been 100% reliable so far, 500 rounds, no jams with a variety of ammo right out of the box, no break-in alibis, so I can forgive it not shooting that tight.
