PT100SS or 101b-11

anyone have these pistols? been looking at them pretty hard being a fan of the Beretta 92FS, they just come a little less expensive, and they are .40 instead of 9mm.

I wanted a higher caliber, and the .45 scared me a little, so I figured I can try the .40, and love the looks of the pistol...of course loving chrome, I would get the stainless steel..LOL

SCGirl- Sorry for the lateness for responce. I bought a used PT 100 AF a few years ago & like it very much. 2-3000 rounds threw it with no trouble. I replaced the wood grips with a set rubber ones from Hogue. ( I like the feel better) I went with the .40 S&W because the Berreta & Taurus 92's seemed big for the 9mm. The big wide grip handles the .40 easy.

If you haven't already tried any of the aforementioned calibers, try before you buy if possible. Strike up a conversation at the range and often others will offer you the opportunity to try their firearms. I know this might sound weird but the 45 might scare you a lot less than you think. For the most part a 45 is traveling at 700-900 FPS and it shoves or pushes; the 40 has a tendency to snap more and travels between 700 and 1300 FPS. I know of a lady in Central Florida that uses a S&W 45ACP 1911 as her carry piece. I also know an Orlando police officer that carries a Sig Sauer P220 as her service piece, by choice. Neither are built like linebackers. I anticipated much the same concern, until I had the chance to fire both firearms. I chose the 45 and now have a Sig P220 Compact and the Taurus PT-145. I shoot both of them one-handed, I do not have large hands and I'm not all bowed up. What will matter a lot will be your ability to grip the firearm. If it doesn't feel right, put it down and walk away from it; don't try to "sell" yourself on it. There's a fiream out there for everyone. I wish you only the best and be sure to let us know how you fare.

Thanks Benzuncle! I just got back from FL..spent a few days in Palm Coast, and HAD to go and see Daytona Harley!! That is some place!!!

Anyways, thanks for the advice. I did try a .40 and I can handle it, also getting better at the .45 ... I was just not ready for that recoil, and when it happened it freaked me out a bit and was afraid to pick it back up..now with a few rounds under my belt, I am a bit more confident...

I want that 100SS....been looking hard at it but have to come up with a good reason to plunk down the money....have a few other things that need to be taken care of first.

Thanks to you also Sir John!
