Thanks. The link worked like its supposed to. Don't look for this one before Oct 2008. It will be available in the 4th quarter according to the link. There will also be a stainless steel slide version availible also which is what I will be getting.

One hint when searching for the PT709 at the Taurus site. Do not type the "PT". Just type 709B. B is for black, SS is for the stainless slide.

I was thinking of getting a Taurus PT-22, but now I want one of the Slims. The MSRP is just over $400, I'll bet they can be had for $350 when they get into production. The Taurus site's suggested retail is a bit inflated from what I've seen. Looks like Taurus has come up with another winner. Why are otherwise rational people so critical of Taurus? |

My 709 Slim will cost me $320 + local tax. It's on order and so far I am the only one on the list as of last Friday. Not sure why so many people are critical of Taurus but it may be that they bought Taurus a few years back when there were some issues with the semi-autos. Issues coupled with a not too responsive customer service dept can make you hate a comany. I must say that I have had nothing but good to say about my three Mil Pros but they are all third generation. (9mm, .40 S&W, .45 acp)

| That's a great price, i've been calling around and I can't get even close to that...that's if the store can even get information. The Taurus website says the gun will be available in the 4th quarter so I'm not waiting. I think I gonna grab a PT 111 today. If you look at the specs, the 709 isn't much smaller, just a little thinner but the weight is actually more than the 111.

So I had a change of heart last night. I set out to buy a 111 or even possibly a Kel Tec but my gun shop had just received 3 Ruger LCP's. I just couldn't get over the size, comfort, and over all feel of the LCP so as much as I hated spending that kind of money on something the size of a deck of cards, I did. I guess I after walking around the store with several different guns in my pocket to get a feel, even the Kahr CW9 just felt too heavy to commit to carry. I shot the Kahr and loved it, infact I'll probably pick one up in the near future, but the LCP's are so hard to find and the price is going through the roof...it was kind of a no brainer.

| That's actually why I grabbed one yesterday. the same store had 1 about a week and a half ago that sold for $75 less than I paid...OUCH. I really wanted a 9mm but I just couldn't get the comfort with my everyday clothes.

Checked on my order for the 709 SLIM this morning. Still no shipping date available. Having one on order is pretty much meaningless at this point. I did hear one thing that may not be a surprise to some of you Taurus fans. The factory has stepped up production of the Judge and slowed down the production of many of the other models. I guess the newest models are being held up until the backlog of Judges is caught up. Not sure just how accurate this info is but it does make sense. Can't find a Judge around here; just a bunch of people that want one. |

| Taurus PT709 I have read the article by Dick Metcalf in Handguns magazine. I have tried to find the PT709 on the Taurus website and have been able to find nothing on it. I believe it would be an absolute great little concealed pistol. If anyone is able to find out more on it, please post it so I can find it. I have looked also on the taurus site for a contact address online, but apparently they do not want email questions sent to them. Thanks for anything you come up with. Arobb |

Yes, there is a lot of new info on the 709 from the SHOT show. It would appear that Taurus has been holding up the 709 SLIM for upgrades or modifications as well as adding a third 709 with a Titanium slide. Looks like it will be even better than originally thought to be when it finally ships to distributors. I will be getting the Titanium slide version instead of the stainless steel version. It will be lighter but more expensive by a $100.

I do not think the 9mm SLIM will put a damper on the .380 market at all and neither does Taurus. They are introducing their own version of the .380 called the TCP. It looks much better than the LCP and P3AT. It will cost about $300. I'oll try to find the link and post it later today.
