Has anyone seen or shot a Slim yet? Based on everything I have read and seen I want one but I would like to hear from someone who has shot one. I like the size, I like the design and I really like Taurus so I know I want one.

Checked with my supplier a few days ago and he still has no shipping date for the 709 series. I am upgrading mine from the stainless slide to the titanium slide and that might be a bit of a hold up but I will wait.

It seems like for the same width (if the projected width is still "just over an inch," one could just about have the Millinium Pro. Same weight, the same width or no more than an eighth of an inch wider if the Slim is actually only 1" wide. It is not quite as sleek but you get full controls, DA/SA, the nice Heinie sights, and the 12+1 capacity. It seems like for hardly any sacrifice (.125" longer length and less than that in width), you could get many more features. Unless, of course, someone is planning on concealing it in spandex pants, and feels the control levers would print and give away the gun... Did I just miss something? |

I was remembering "just under an inch" in the width. Maybe not.

I like the Millennium myself. I had a 9MM and loved it. Looking at a .45 Millennium now.

Oooh sisco, I think I just read what you posted wrong. Yeah if it's less than an inch wide then yes I see its merit.

Having owned all three, the Mil Pro in 9mm, .40 S&W & the .45 acp, I don't see where you can go wrong with any of them. However I don't carry any of them. Too bulky for me. I carry them in vehicles and love to shoot them at the range, but they just don't conceal on me very well. My two main carry weapons are Rohrbaugh R9s and the Seecamp LWS-380. Both are a go in either front or back pocket. Of the three Mil Pros, I like the PT145SS the best.

I just read in the Rohrbaugh forum that the first 99 units of the new R380 are shipping this week. I have one on order and should be hearing from my supplier soon. I believe this one will be better than the Seecamp .380 as far as shooting goes due to the additional size and weight. The R9s and the R380 are the pretty much the same size and weight. Looks like the same pistol except for the bore. I have the Seecamp trivecta. All three models. Hard to beat Seecamp for concealed carry. Very small stainless steel pistols. They are not cheap but they are not plastic either.

I live in California and can't get some of the guns you folks can. But with that said, I could get a Kahr PM 9 and bought it today! I have a few guns, like a 357, 686 and a Ruger P90TH 45, and a few others. I bought this PM9 for nothing but a carry weapon....What do you folks think about this gun? It's only 14 o/z and talked to a few LEO'S and they stated go for it with the ammo that we have today with the knock down power with this gun that can be had with a 9mm.....I would like a responce from a professional. With all do respect! Thank, You! |

I was lucky enough to see it at the Shot Show and kinda fell in love with it. The Walther is a little better made but not to justify the cash difference. I just put one on lay away Friday at the local shop. I feel it's a sweet carry gun at 19oz and it being thin and smooth, I really look forward to putting a few hundred rounds through...I hope I like that as much as the style.

After150 rounds, slide won't stay back after the last shot. Has been cleaned after each box of fifty rounds. Spoke w/ Taurus rep. who gave me a bumbling idiotic answer that I should clean the magazines better. Taking the gun back to exchange for the Walther PPS. Should have known better than to get A Taurus.

| Taurus PT 709 9mm
Looked at one today and was very impressed with the looks and feel...has a 7 shot clip...slim with a great feel. Has a glock trigger...Don't know much else, Price was $399 at the gun shop, just got them in and sold one this morning. If it shoots as good as it looks and feels, should be a dandy. Ron

| Saw one at the gunshow last weekend, My opinion is that while I prefer my .45 I would LOVE to have one of these as a backup. I'll be getting one for my fiancee at my earliest convienience. Nice lookin pistol and felt pretty good in the hand. Nice sights to.

I'm new to hand guns, but I just love shooting these guns... At 21 feet I'm dead on and can group my shots within 1 inch. The guns are very smooth and I never miss fired in 100 shots. And someone said something about these guns being double actioned.. well they are single actioned unless you have a miss-fire then they turn into double action automatically. Not exactly sure what that means... other than I can keep clicking the trigger to try and fire that round again. I almost bought a S&W 38 special, but this Taurus just felt better in my hand. | I bought a PT709 July 28th. I fired 21 rounds through my PT709 this morning. I have been around guns since the age of 14. I know what SA and DA mean. The instruction book says that the SA trigger pull is 5-7 lbs. I was expecting that, but when I fired the first round it broke so easy that I actually jumped from not expecting it to fire at the point of pull I was at. It is more like a couple of pounds, a very very light pull will fire this gun.. This gun is like a Cadillac compared to the Ruger LCP that I would maybe call a Chevrolet. BTW I mailed the LCP that I bought in April 2008 to Ruger this morning for the fifth time. They have promised me a brand new gun as a replacement. Now that I have tried the PT709 the LCP will probably go up for sale when I get it back. I am also going to sale my Glock model 30 since the PT709 will become my main go to pistol from now on. I did fire a round of snake shot in it. The empty case ejected but there was not enough force to cycle the slide back fully so it did not chamber another round. The next thing I have to find out is how this gun remains after a couple hundred rounds through it |

[FONT="] What’s Up! I'm new to this forum but I had to join because it appears that I may have put the most rounds through the PT709. I have put 250 100% reliable rounds through my PT709. The only time it did not fire was due to the ammo, two bad cartridges. I attempted each three times and they would not fire (but a great way to test the double strike capabilities). I gave it a good clean and oiling prior to taking it out to the range. I was shooting a mega pack of Remington UMC 114g FMJ. I purchased the PT709 last week after visiting my local gun shop to buy my wife a pocket holster for her Kel Tec P3AT. The salesmen behind the counter just happened to mention that the PT709 just came in and I started asking questions. He let me hold it and I immediately decided that I had to purchase this gun. My former carry weapon was a Kel Tec PF 9. I really liked my Kel Tec (the reason I purchased one for my wife) and I had about 800 rounds through it. I did have a few cartridges fail to eject and a couple of times the round did not cycle fully but I would say it worked 98% of the time I pulled the trigger and I trusted it. I did have a few gripes with it. Some cosmetic and some were mechanical. For the cosmetic, the gun was very basic. This is an area that the PT709 really shines. It's a nice modern looking gun. I used to think about buying a Glock or a Compact XD every time I touched one but they are just too wide for me. My carry weapon is on me 99% of the time I am outside my house for any reason. I no longer desire either of those guns. My mechanical issues revolved around the lack of a safety, trigger, recoil, the take down process and accuracy. The Kel Tec has a very long trigger pull. I considered it my safety because it was so deliberate that I often said there is no way to accidentally pull the first shot. It's a good thing to have but it works against you in regards to speed and accuracy of follow up shots. The trigger on the PT709 is smooth with a very crisp break. It is very light and tightens up close to the end of the pull. It will then go into single action and the follow up shots are very quick and accurate. The PT709 has a great frame safety that can be disengaged very naturally as you are drawing the pistol. The recoil on the Kel Tec was manageable but after about 100 shots you would begin to think about the things you needed to get done for the day. For a defense weapon it’s not such a big deal but it does inspire you to go out and buy another gun to shoot at the range and prevents you from becoming ultra comfortable with the pistol you depend your life on. After 100 rounds with the Taurus, I felt like I just started shooting. It feels very similar to a G26. The take down process on the Kel Tec was simple until you got to the last step. Getting that pesky frame pin back in is simply irritating. The Taurus is simple (Glock like) with no Jedi mind tricks required. Accuracy is of the Kel Tec was always combat accurate but I always desired more. For me the Taurus was comparable to a full frame Colt that I have shot (15yds, same target, same range, different days). My groupings were tight right out of the box with no adjustments. For me the, PT709 is the gun I always wanted my Kel Tec to be. It is the new standard for day in day out 24/7 carry (in my opinion). I forget that it is on me after about an hour of wearing it. It may sound like I was bashing my Kel Tec but I really did like that gun. It was reliable, ultra compact and comfortable to carry at all times. All of my criticisms about the gun could not outweigh the extra points it wins on size, ability to carry and caliber. The difference now is competition has produced a better gun in every regard. The extra 5 ounces actually works to your advantage in regards to recoil and the ¼ increase of barrel of the PT709 can’t be noticed physically. The Taurus gives you much more for almost the same amount of money once you consider that you get an extra magazine, sight adjuster tools and a bore brush with purchase of the gun. For me it was simple. My Kel Tec was sold after 4 hrs of purchasing the Taurus! |

| Taurus Pt709
I just bought the Taurus PT709 at the Raleigh Gun Show this weekend for $358 blue. I have put about 200 rounds through it. Great Gun. I have a leather IWB holster and have been wearing it for about 12 hours now and love the way it fits. I shot a 5 inch group at 15 yards today. The gun is new and still a little tight and the temp outside is 100 but still no problems other than my shooting. The leather holster was made for a Walther P99 but fits well. Personally, for a concealed carry weapon it will be hard to beat. I can carry it in my cargo shorts front pocket. If you have big hands it might be a little small. I am going to get the extended mag and see how it feels plus having another round ready to go is a plus. Two 7 round mags come with the weapon 7+1, extended mag is 8.

I purchased my 709 approx. 4 weeks ago. I felt this was finally my perfect firearm for Conceal/Carry. After 500 rounds or so I started having the same listed problems; last cartridge would not eject, light strikes, jams, the bluing was almost completely off the barrell and the finale, last Monday I had put about 75 rounds through it and the gun completely quit ejecting. Checked and found that the ejector had completely snapped off. Dead in the water with a single shot. I fedexed it Tuesday with Taurus offering me a 5 to 6 week turnaround. I can live with that if they truly fix all of my issues including replacing the magazines. There is no gun that I love more than my Taurus 24/7 PRO 9mm. I have put at least 5000 rounds through this gun with no, notta, zero failures. If the 709 won't cut it I'm switching to a PT 24/7 PRO Compact 9mm. Thanks for listening Mark |

| My new PT 709 Yeah I bought one the day before yesterday, I love it.... it's about the thickness of a PPK... I shot it yesterday for the first time..... I was expecting more recoil then it gave considering it's size and the way my PPK kicks.... but the fact that it's locked breech design as opposed to a blowback makes the difference....but I put 200 fail free rounds through it..very happy... I definately want to get my hands on the extended magazine as I like a place for my little finger.... but I can't find it online..... guess I'll call taurus...... in my opinion this is the best single stack 9mm out there.....
