Brand new and 410 shells fit very tight. No problem with 45LC but 410 is nuts, wont except remington shells at all, got some Rio's in it I bought from Ables but super tight and Fiochhi same.

| Senior Member | Have you fired the 410 Shells yet? I'd like to hear how far they are good for from someone who owns one. I've read that they will only stop someone from as little as 3 feet and read they will stop an attacker in his tracks at 25 yards. Heard just about everything in between. I'd like to hear it from someone who actually owns one and has shot it to experiment.

Knightrider the cylinder is 2 1/2 and thats what the shells are, there fit really tight, and the Rems. dont go at all. I'm gonna have to take it back to the gunshop and see what they say. I hope I dont have to send it to Taurus they dont have a good rep. for customer service. i

Don't want to insult you, but I'm assuming you've cleaned it well. If you fire alot of .45 colt you might get enough powder residue to make for a tight fit. Good luck and hope it works out ! I really like shooting mine.

OK just went and tried it again, I see a ring in the wheel roughly the length of the 45LC loaded a Rio 410 shot shell it stops at the ring but it can be pushed in. Fired a full cylinder had to use a dowel to get shells out. Fired fine, tried Remmy green slug round. Tight going in but when it reaches the ring in the cylinder it stops and it wont go any further without forcing it. I wonder if the ring in the cylinder could be protruding outward to much pinching the shells, and causing it to be tight. But that wouldnt explain why the Remmys fit so tight. I dont know, really getting frustrated with the whole thing.

This could well be the case; if so I'd send it back for servicing. Remmies might exacerbate the problem a bit due to the fluted shell vice winchesters. If you have to use dowels or force the shells into a clean gun there's definitely a problem that needs factory attention. I'm not sure why there's a ring there (mine has the same) but I think it's so that someone doesn't try to chamber a .454 vice a .45 LC and blow up the gun. Sounds like the tolerance is too tight on yours. Sorry to hear the problem, and the best of luck. There is a lifetime warranty, so they should fix it for free.

First you should get a 50 cal. Brass Bore Brush, and Brush the Hell out of the cylinder Chambers... Still a no go... Cylinder missed Final finish operation at the Factory... Take it back to the Dealer, see if they will have there Smith Polish cylinders out (no big deal)... If it goes back to Taurus, your out shipping and two months...<:-((
