| Taurus 44 Magnum
Just purchased a Taurus 44 Magnum. Give your pros or cons, I have already bought and paid for it.

I own the taurus m44 6 1/2" ported . I think it's a great gun for the price, acurate and pleasant to shoot, I load mine up with 240 grain jacketed hollow points when I'm hikeing in bear country (which happens to be every-where up here) and I feel comfortable with it's stopping power.

I love mine. I have a polished ss model 44 with 4" ported barrel. the only problem i have with mine is occasionaly, when i shoot some of the 240 grain stuff, it jumps a chamber. Ill think i am done shooting and go to empty it and there is still one round left. but it doesnt do it with 180's.

BIGDIX, if it's doing this with factory loads you ought to take it back where you bought it. That's a defect.

I have a 8 3/8" Raging Bull and it is my favorite 44 mag, very little recoil, very accurate open sights,or with scope. I have had Ruger Blackhawks, Super Redhawks, S&W 629,and a Dan Wesson ( Wish I'd Kept It). The Taurus handles light and heavy loads and feels good in my hand. Have fun blasting away! |

I have had it for a while now and it is my 44 Magnum of choice. It is a M44 with 6.5" Ported barrel. Have a Ruger Black Hawk and like the Taurus better.

Here is a photo of my Raging bull 44 I have a red dot on it in the photo but usually it wears a 2x7 scope. Have been shooting at the indoor range so I don't need the scope there.

I have the M44 with the 8 3/8" ported barrel. I hardly EVER hunt deer without it strapped to my side. I can't think of a single negative thing to say about it....other than the pachmyr grips (I replaced the factory rosewood so they wouldn't get scuffed up) being a little too slim for my liking. It's probably put down close somewhere between 6-8 deer...... and not a one of them traveled more than 50 yards. If I was in the market for another 44, I would have no regrets about buying another M44/Raging Bull. Forgot to add - I was a little concerned about the finish when I first bought it. It's been dropped in the mud, handled with bloody hands, and carried in a rain-soaked holster MANY times....not a speck of rust or signs of wear on it anywhere. I had a M44 with the ported barrel. Never had a problem out of it. Thanks to the porting and 8 1/2 inch barrel it was actually a lot of fun to shoot. Had one 100 pound woman who used to go to the range with us. She LOVED to shoot it. You'd have to watch her or she'd go through a whole box of ammo and not leave any for me to shoot. I also had a short barreled blackhawk that was downright abusive to shoot. It also tended to shake screws loose. Was going to switch over to the model 29 but the Taurus fit my hand better and was WAY cheaper. |

Has the Tracker 44mag, no porting & with a 2" barrell..... WOW!! whatta recoil. Traded it the next week for a Rem 7600 30-06. Raging Bull 454 I had never had that much recoil as the snubby Tracker. Wasn't bad with 180 grn 44spec., but with 240 grn mag reloads... nope.

I learned to never look for anything after I bought it. I always find it for cheaper. lmao I also never ask for opinions or input after I buy something. I find someone always says something that makes me think I shouldn't have bought it or I should have waited. In this case, you have neither to worry about. It's a great gun. I don't own one yet, but I did plenty of reading and research on it because I want one. I also want an M&P.
