.22 revolver

Saw a new Taurus 8 shot .22 revolver chrome with a 12" barrel today at a gun store for $319.00. Not sure the model but really liked it! I want a S&W 10 shot .22 but way pricey compared to this.
Good price? Good gun? Model number? Never owned a Taurus but....

That 8 shot revolver was a .22 magnum, right? Their .22 LR are 9 shot.

I am wondering several things about it though. I went to Taurus' web site and they said .22 or .22 mag. Does this mean it should have 2 cylinders?
Why did they discontinue making it? Why is that none have been sold on the gun auction websites? (Does this mean they are good and people like them too much to sell them?) Was or is there any manufacturing problems or issues?

Also, why so cheap?

I do not know who to ask these questions. Maybe I'll give Taurus a call or e-mail.

No, it means that it is offered in either 22LR or 22Mag, not interchangeable cylinders.

It would be agood idea, to contact Taurus, and inquire about the particular firearm. Their warrantee is good, and their repair record is good. I just finished repairing a .357, and must admit, I like the clockwork! It's not too difficult to work with, and goes back together, with few problems. Being a new gun, there's really not much to check for, such as signs of abuse. For the price, I'd say it's a good deal. Their quality is up there, with the other top brands, and the firearms are troublefree, so long as you take care of them. The one I worked on, had some rust under the edge oftheHogue grips, and I suggested that he remove, and clean under them, occasionally. Aside from the damage, due to being dropped, it was a nice revolver. If you want it, put it on payments, as suggested earlier. Scotty

LHS...I have had too many Taurus guns come in for repair and NEW revolvers that locked up due to poor fitting parts internally, poor machine work, and soft steel that wasn't tempered properly.parts that fall off ,etc
My personal Opinion is BUY American first, like Ruger, Colt, S&W, etc. and European next !
I have had very poor service from Taurus as far as parts go...6 months to get a part is Ridiculous ! 3-6 months to get a firearm back from them in the past... and usually not fixed when returned !
You asked My opinion and that is it...It is your money and your choice !
I just won't bet my life on a Taurus !

Thanks to all who contributed! I've all but decided to save my money up and get a S&W 10 shot .22 revolver.
After all, it'll go good with my other 7 S&W pistols.

I have several Taurus pistols. I haven't had a problem with any of them. I also have the Smith & Wesson mod. 617 10 shot 22 with a 4" barrel. It has a nice feel to it. It shoots great. They are expensive. I just started my 10 yr. old daughter shooting it with me.
