!!!!! no it cant this is what the manual says: “Plus-P’, “PIus-P-Plus” or other ultra or high velocity ammunition generates pressures significantly in excess of the pressures associated with standard ammunition. Such pressures may affect the useful life of the firearm or exceed the margin of safety built into many revolvers and could therefore be DANGEROUS.

Just my opinion, and I'm not familiar with the Gaucho, but I think you'll go broke before you buy enough factory +P ammo to do any damage to it. Almost all manufacturers say not to use +P ammo in their manuals. Years ago a gun writer torture tested an airweight .38 snub with +P ammo trying to break it. Many thousands of rounds later it had loosened up a bit but was still shooting OK. Last edited by Taurus Fan; 09-21-2008 at 09:57 PM. |

| Conservative in Exile ![]() | I really don't think so and I'd obtain positive verification from Taurus before you try this. 45LC +P isn't exactly like 38 +P. 9mm +P or 45 ACP +P -- it's kind of like a "45 magnum" and shouldn't be used in all guns (I view the .44 special +P as being in a similar situation). The buffalo bore standard pressure heavy 45 colt can be used in your gun OK--as can the Leverrevolution from hornady. I'd make sure the manufacturer says it's ok for any +P. The gun should be proofed to some pretty extreme pressures, but I wouldn't tempt fate without knowing for sure. If Taurus doesn't get back to you (I've heard Taurus has some issues with customer service, and I never got an answer on the subject), you can e-mail buffalo bore ammo and ask. Buffalo Bore ammo's customer service has been excellent for me.

One of the reasons I got the .454 Casull Raging Bull. I can fire any kind of .45 Colt round through it, as well as the Casull big boys.

Yeah the Buffalo Bore stuff is something I'd be leery of, it's in a class by itself.

If you're seriously thinking of going for bear with this, might I humbly suggest you bring a friend with a rifle or 12 gauge loaded with slugs "just in case"
