| Pt 24/7 CA .40 cal JAMMING!!
JUst got my first pistol. A used PT 24/7 Ca. The guy at the shop said it only had 2 boxes of ammo through it. Everything thing looks brand new. I believe the guy, the place has a pretty good rep. I waited 10 days, picked it up brought home and cleaned it really good. Went to the range today, fire about 4 shots, JAM. Cleared the jam. 3 shots JAm. Thought not good. Tried the other mag, Basically same thing. I'm thinking bad Magazines? Cleaned it again and the magazines as well. Gonna try again before i call Taurus. Is there some sort of break in period or is that just BS? The problem from what I can tell is feed faileur <- (Kant Spel). Any suggestions? Thanks

Break in period is what I'd say it is. I have a friend who has a 24/7 and hasn't had problems with it. More than likely it just needs to be used enough to wear some factory edges down.

During break-in, any semi can be picky about type of ammo. Might try a different brand. Most say should be fmj hardball. Avoid flat nosed ammo during break-in.

I called Taurus today. When i told the guy what type of ammo i was using, he said that was the problem. I was using Independent brand ammo. He told me never to use that ammo type..

Ammo was the first thing that came to mind, especially "range ammo" that's remanufactured or even someone's reloads. Never heard of Independant Ammo is that a brand or just the description?

I usually use Winchester White box Target/range or Remington UMC in my 3 Taurus'es with no problems.

Try some different name brand ammo, and if that doesn't work, you already know the number to call..

It's like we tell folks, use the GOOD ammo for the first 500 rounds. Using cheap ammo during break-in is almost a guarantee of problems... Great Example: NEVER use Remington .22lr ammo (Golden Bullsquish & Thunderduds) for break-in for a .22lr...you will wonder what sort of crappy rifle you got, when it's really the ammo. Heck, my wifey's 24/7 C (9mm) didn't like anything much...at first. After 100 rounds of Winchester White Box...it'll eat anything, including the old 1988 Alabama Ammo reloads

I'm going to try the UMC ammo. Yeah theose flat nosed bullets looked wierd to me. And the guy at the shop told me the gun only had 2 boxes of ammo through it, So maybe i just need to fire the hell out of it using good stuff. I mean the gun looks brand new. Get round nose ball if it doesn't work with that it's not going to work with anything. Then find a JHP your gun likes. Of the 3 Taurus autos I've owned, all worked just fine out of the box with no alibis for breaking in at all. |

Polishing the feed ramp with a felt buffer and the red polishing compound on a Dremel Moto-Tool helped me speed the break-in on my PT145.
