avatar not as big as it used to be

ok, why is my avatar not as big as it used to be? i've tried different formats, i've tried resizing (kilobyte wise), and it it does not want to go back the way it used to be.

it used to be a little less than quarter of this size, now it's even smaller than that.

That's a tad oversized for shooting the wings off flies at 100 paces isn't it?
