Looking for a clarification here.. What is the status on neighboring state gun buys for Texas? I am stationed in Oklahoma and thereby considered an OK resident. I have purchased rifles in Wichita Falls with no problems, but most of the rest of the state is claiming they cannot sell to other states.
So far a gun dealer at the Pasadena gun show said no go, as well as a Corpus Christi and Huntsville area pawn shop. Big 5 were happy to, as well as a few pawn shops (that unfortunately had nothing I wanted to buy!)
I have heard mention that rifles are fine but pistols have to go to an FFL, although most of these places wont deal with either, Any thoughts?

It used to be if you were in TX, you could only buy from contiguous states, meaning LA, AR, OK and NM. I believe that was lifted here a while back...I think during the 2009 legislative session.
If you go through an FFL, it shouldn't be any biggie... but since you're an OK resident, you'll have to go by OK rules.
A shame, there are some really good buys.. Nylon 77 at a pawn here in Corpus for $104.. bit rusted but they have been $400 lately. Firestorm 22 for $199, and an Interarms ATD for $100 without the magazine tube. Some nutter on Craigslist even has a steal of a deal for a "antique Mosin" for only $500 :P Judging by the hangers its not even that old.
Ironically when I lived in Texas it was Oklahoma that wouldnt sell to me.. Had a nice Marlin 30-30 for $150 -_-

Cheaper Than Dirt in Ft.Worth says they can't sell handguns to out of state buyers, but can sell long guns to out of state purchasers providing they can fill out the 4473 and don't get denied on the instant back ground check.
