My husband convinced me he wanted an Encore because it would be cheaper to just buy new barrels when he wanted a different calliber. We got everything from the shotgun to the pistol to the muzzeloader to the high calliber ones.

It was the biggest pain in the ass to take the forend on and off. The screws were really short. You had to be able to float a dollar bill between the barrel and the forend. If it wasn't correct, the gun would shoot off or the forend would fall off and you would lose a screw. He would mess with it for over an hour trying to get the forend on. You get one screw in and the other wouldn't touch. We finally sold the whole bunch and he bought a Weatherby.

I go jack shootin' with mine. Yes, you can get a second shot off at a runnin' bunny with a break-open like the T/C. There are a few jacks out there that can testify to this-- if they weren't dead, that is...

Love the Encore

204,243,308,270 and 22 250 in my safe. Love the setup. That 204 is a lot of fun.

I've been shooting the 28" Pro hunter shotgun slug barrel with the Winchester Plat Tips and it works great, but you need to hold on to it real good or the top of your nose might not be happy.

I like the Encore platform. I have the pro hunter series in .308, .243, .280, and muzzle loader. Plan on several more barrels in the future.

I'd like to get an Encore so that whenever I get the urge to play with a new caliber all I'd have to do is buy a new barrel. The stainless steel makes a lot of sense, but that blue with walnut sure looks pretty. I want to order a frame and stock this week and collect barrels as I can.

What has kept me away from the encore is cost. Last I saw, the guns run about 500 dollars, and the barrels I saw were 330 dollars for stainless, and about 200 being the cheapest. Then, on top of that, you need to scope each individual one. To me, that seemed like a lot of money to be locked up in a single shot rifle.

I've been looking at the TC Encore, and the CVA Optima Elite, I need to buy 3 guns this year, I have only got the Yugo SKS, and I need a ML, rifle, shotgun, and a varmint rifle. I'm 51, and have been away from hunting for 15 years, and after being disabled in Feb, 2007, and watching a extreme amount of the Outdoor and Versus channels, programming. I decided to get of of my porch, and out of my lazyboy, and start deer hunting again, well I used my Yugo, and due to a cheap reciever cover, which was on the SKS when I bought it, along with not being able to zero the scope. and an added health problem of Tremmors, I missed the doe I was aiming at. The Sks I have is a great weapon, and I know you can harvest deer and other animals, with it. I have no other guns, and I like some others of you, am thinking it would be cheaper in the longrun, if I just get a TC Encore, or CVA Optima Elite, and just buy the extra barrels I need, so I can hunt Turkeys, deer, coyotes, hogs, elk, mulies, and any other wildlife, I might get the oportunity to hunt on down the line. I have some obstacles that I'm presently working to resolve, such as my tremmor issue. I take meds. to help control it, and I'm going to have to get a stronger strength in meds. I will be shooting off a special rigged tripod, to help resolve that issue.
anything you folks can share about the choice of the 2 brands, and anything else you care to add, I would greatly appreciate it.
Randy

Hey guys, new to the forum, new to to my ENCORE, LOVE THE ENCORE!!!! Currently shooting the muzzeloader. A few modifications though... If you shoot the 209 Primers, go on line and aquire the VARIFLAME ADAPTERS that are machined brass sleaves that use #4BR RIFLE PRIMERS. You pop out the used primer after use and re-install new BR4s. Less flashole buildup, more complete ignition of the powder, GREAT results.

I shoot on a budget too. I traded in a REMINGTON 300 ULTRAMAG that looked very good in my safe. TOO DARN EXPENSIVE TO SHOOT. Now I have one firearm, many options for future calibers. I paid 850 for my last remington, 600 for my T/C. I put a 2x7x32 Leupold on the encore smokepole that I already owned. Next month I will be getting my NEW LEUPOLD 4.5X14X40 VXIII SF out of layaway. I can't wait. If you are on a budget, wait and get the RIGHT firearm, don't go with a cheaper than you'll be satisfied with. Buyers remorse sucks

I have been hunting with an Encore muzzle-loader for the last three years and have never had a misfire. They are a great gun , and I plan on buying a couple rifle barrels in the future.

Sounds like there was something not quite right with the screw length. I haven't had that problem with 5 different forends. Floating forends is a common practice though, with many different methods.
Sorry too hear you had problems though, I wouldn't give mine up .

I have used only single shots my entire adult life,,,can't say as where I thought it was a handicap. I know you didn't say that LR. But my thought about this single shot is, one,, quality for the most part, two,,,versatility. There is one thing I would like to see modified and thats the trigger. But for $500 and another barrel, where else can you have 2 gun versatility for under $900. You'll have well over a grand with anybody/thing else. Basically you can add another barrel And scope for less than what another rifle alone would cost.

High rings or hammer spur fixes that.

I see your point. If you like single shot's the encore is probably your best bet. You explained your reasons for the Encore well. Like you said, you can have two guns for 900 dollars. I, personally would rather have two Remington 700 SPS's, or Savage's for 900 bucks. You aren't really handicapped by a single shot much, I just prefer bolt actions.

It's great to have the choices we have. And everybody kinda walks to their own drum LR. I am usually the odd one in most crowds/hunting camps. I really like all formats of firearms, and have nothing against bolts, or even the person that chooses an autoloader. I just really like the compact singlesingle shot more. Although, someday I would really like a Remington 40X singleshot bolt. I just can't get the Encore to shoot under the .2-.3"'s like I know I could with the 40X for precise longrange work. And if I was going into a situation where the game might bite back, and even having a guide for backup I may condsider a repeater.

HEY TWO-70, I had a 270 in a remi platform. Is that why you have that handle?

Lng Rng, I traded a REMINGTON SENDARO 300 ULTRAMAG. Iv'e been impressed by the ENCORE accuracy. Mine is the 50 ML.

Lng Rng, what cal do you shoot?
