I'm hoping to get a contender/encore this summer but I'm looking for a caliber that's easy to reload. I've loaded my Ruger .44 up to about 1200 with 300 gr hornady so I know how that recoil feels but I'd like to know where rounds like 7mm tcu, 6.5 jdj. 300 whisper etc. fall. Also ease of reloading. Any inputs appreciated.

I can't say about those calibers in particular, but I can say that there is a monthly rag out called Handgun Hunters International (HHI) and some of them guys shoot those calibers and there is some real good write ups about them. HHI is put out by JD Jones of SSK fame. Not many T/C fans on this board. Hope this helps.

i dont know about the thompson or those particular calibers, but my muzzle braked lone eagle in 7mm-08 loaded hot is the equivilent of a pretty stout 44mag in terms of recoil.

Thanks guys I appreciate the info. I'll keep checking back here. Lefty o, what kind of velocities are you getting out of the 7mm-08?
