| contender barrel does anyone build a 6.5-06 barrel for the old frame contender or can you run a 6.5-06 reamer in the 6.5 tcu barrel to do this |

| Too much cartridge for an old Contender I think you could probably find somebody who would make the 6.5-06 for you, but it is too much power for the old Contender frame. The head diameter is a lot bigger than the 6.5 TCU, so there is a lot more thrust on the action. If you want to shoot '06 type cartridges, the Encores are a far better choice, because they were designed to handle those cartridges (after people damaged Contenders with barrels like you want).
