Remington VS .223 Scope Purchase

I mounted a 6.5-20 x40 Target Model Leupold on the Remington and believe this to be the perfect combination for this flavor of shooting. What brand does the general population decide upon and how do the results vary? By the way, I only use Leupold and have learned this the hard way. Take my advice. One Leupold will last longer and hold truer than five of the "cheapies". My .308 carries a 4.5-14x40 tactical and tends to love it as well. I believe that my current combo will serve me fine. However, send suggestions as I am always interested in the results of others

Re: Remington VS scope choice

You got my vote. Only other scope I might use is a Weaver due to money considerations.

Re: Remington VS scope choice

Forgot to work my way up on the price side, the Burris. Local gunshop normally sells Burris, Leupold, Weaver, Bushnell, Simmons, and Tasco (they call it Trashco). They sell a lot of Weavers. I have 4 Weaver V16 Classics, a Grand Slam 4-20, a Leupold 4-12 w/AO, and a Burris 6-18 Fullfield.

If you like Leupold, you're gonna love IOR-Valdada. twice the optics for the same price. Plus, you can get BDC cams for 308 and 223 so you don't have to fool around with that silly mildot crap.

I am very familiar with and fond of the Leupold M3 Mil-Dot scope. I have used it for years on the Army's M24 SWS. When I went to buy a scope for my personal custom built .308 I decided to try and see what a cheap scope would do. The Leupold costs over 1000.00. I bought a BSA 6-24 x 40 Mil-Dot Reticle scope (89.00)and mounted it onto the rifle. I shot the rifle at a local Long Range Match (600 and 1000 yards) 80 rounds and it shot as well as did my Army issued M24. I am convinced that you dont always get what you pay for (sometimes you get a lot more).

I have a Weaver on my 300 RUM. My only high end scope.
