| Senior Member ![]() | Got a coyote with the pistol today
Just got back this evening. Part one of the deer season, no deer. I did get an awesome shot on a coyote though. We heard some rustling around in an are we thought to be a bedding place. My son see's this coyote come out of it. It goes across the small creek, circles back around and heads straight for the blind. In IL we can carry a pistol while hunting now. I had my .357 Blackhawk out of the holster sitting on the backpack. I reached for the muzzle loader then changed gears and picked up the Blackhawk. A few thousand rounds of practice through that gun did not hurt a thing. I thumbed the hammer and instinctively drew a sight picture on the now standing still dog. I touched the trigger sending a Remington 180 grain JHP and the yote went down. I'm not sure exactly where I hit, but squared up on her chest. (about 15 yards away) She reared her head back in despaeration. Seeing these things get up and run after taking multiple hits of various calibers, I cashed in the insurance card. One more round, then another. I don't stop on these things untill they don't move. Three rounds later she lye still. Did the poke it in the eye wit the stick gig, graveyard dead. Figured that wouldn't help deer hunting much now. Me and the boy grabbed a leg each and dragged her up the hill, trailing behind a line of brain matter (one shot went through both ears) no I'm not that good, just lucky, ha ha. We went back to hunt for another hour. No dice. I think part of the reason we had crappy luck was because of the coyotes. Friday were getting some guts, wounded rabbit calls and about 6 people with everything from shotguns to AR's and have a bit of an erradication party. Or at least let them know they aren't welcome.

Well done, Jerry. I'm still waiting to bag one this year with my Tikka T3. Just got an electronic caller, though, and if the weather improves, I hope my luck will too.

I got bored shooting the center out of my target at 100yds with my Tikka, so i started shooting at the 3/4" wide wooden stake holding my target up. The guy I had spoting for me couldn't believe it when i hit it 3 times in a row.
