12 Ga 00 Buck for up close, 223 for longer range. About the same as Coyotes. 50bmg balistic tip if you don't want to pick up a carcass

Anything that can hit the x spot, with a light varmint projectile. All comes down to how far away are they?

.270 would work great with 100~110 or 130 grain projectile.

A buddy of mine whacks yotes witha hand load of 110gn bullets with IMR 4064 powder in the .270

243 and 223 would be my light weight picks.
I guess it just depends on what kind of damage PAPA G wants to make?

I"ve taken dozens of them with a .22 autorifle, doesn't disturb the neighbors when you use subsonic ammo and brain them. If they run and you don't care, use Stingers. I wouldn't buy anything special just for dogs. Might even just use a pistol. They would probably not run from you as quickly as if they see something in your hands, and being seen with a gun by people= trouble in many areas.

Where I live recently the police shot somebody's dog again.
They used a semi-auto pistol and shot it a bunch of times,
although they shot it many more times than they needed to
according to the pet owner. This would have been with a
9mm or a .40 and apparrently either are perfectly capable of
killing pit-bulls at 50 ft.

Maybe you're looking for more range? I don't think dogs can
take much more than people. Of course they often can do
severe physical damage more quickly, but to kill them anything
.223ish at longer ranges and 9mm closer should work just fine
especially if you unload a clip into them like the police did around
here recently!

Some dogs automatically charge at police in
uniform and electric company meter checkers.
Try calling the police out there. That might
be more intertaining than shooting them
yourself!!!

Yeah schwa has a good point. Your neighbors are going to call
the cops on you for shooting at dogs. Not only will you get
arrested and charged, probably convicted of criminal mischeif,
unlawful discharge of a firearm, and whatever else they can
dream up, you won't be able to shoot the dogs because they'll
be busy unloading clips and such.

Before you do this call the sheriff's office to find out what if
anything you can be charged with for controlling the feral dog
population.

we just use 308 pmc factory 150gr sps or 222 with 55gr ballistic tips

just hit them in the right spot and they will go down

or a nice blast of buckshot to the head would be fine
