.223 feeding/extracting question on Rem

I have begun breaking in the barrel of my newly purchased Remington VS .223 and have noticed that it doesn't extract or feed as well as my .308 in the same model. Is this fairly constant with these two rounds or does a problem seem to be showing its ugly face? It sometimes doesn't seem to throw the round out when the bolt is slowly brought rearward. The round simply drops into the action. Any advice? It shoots wonderful groups and I am very happy otherwise.

Sounds like the action could use a little blueprinting and the ejector could use a little tuning. It should be consistent with your other rifle.

When pulling the bolt slowly to the rear the ejector spring is compleatly extended before the brass clears the reciver so it drops into the action...also PMP,and South African Surplus,use a soft brass and can flow into pores in the chamber and creat sticky extraction...and lacquer coated ammo is a no no,the lacquer is a @#!**@#$ to get out of a chamber...
