Savage barrels generally are more accurate than others. I have owned a Stevens 110E for 20 years - it was my most accurate rifle (sold it and now have a Stevens 200). I have owned a couple of Simmons - and had one go bad on my. I'd spend a few more bucks and get a Nikon, Weaver (always a good choice), or a Leopold (best choice). I also believe a good first varmint rifle should be a .223. You can always save for a second one for the really long shots and get a .22-240 or get a .243. |

i got a good deal on a savage .223 at my local gunshop.gun was used,but got it for around 350 + usual fees. and it came with a scope and sling on it.i can easily hit a 12 oz soda can at 200 yards with cheap ammo.... i love the rifle
