204Ruger Vs. 22-250 Vs. 243 How do think 204 ruger stands next to our veterans 22-250 and 243 for varmint P.dog, coyote etc. ![]()

The .204 will equal or top the performance of the .22-250 using the same weight bullets. The .243 doesnt have quite as good of drop table but for all intents and purposes on P.dogs out to 400yds+ you cant tell the difference. The big difference to consider is the .243win is a better deer cartridge since it can be loaded with 55to70gr bullets for varmints and handles 100gr bullets for deer size game well. sam.

varmint hunting hi,im new to this but just your opinion how would an h&r "ultra varmint" caliber remington .223 do on hunting coyotes? Hi samuel how do you think an H&R "ultra varmint" in a remington .223 caliber will do at hunting coyotes? Last edited by nc.hunter; 10-29-2007 at 05:00 PM. Reason: Automerged Doublepost

If I reloaded which I do I would go with the .204 but if I had to buy factory ammo I would definitly go .223rem. I have used .223,s on coyote with a 40gr VMAX and it seldom exited but virtually always stopped them in their tracks.Hornady makes a load using a 40gr VMAX that is great and accurate in all guns I have tried it in whether they were 1in12" or 1in9" twist. sam.

I am not a varmint shooter, but the .223 certainly appears to be the more economical choice and also seems pretty versatile - more so than the .204.
