I think that would be a little small for hunting those animals. It might also be illegal in your state. I would go with at least .223 Remington.

useable at only very up close and personal ranges, and then it would not be guaranteed to kill quickly.

Boy is that a loaded question? (pun fully intended)
simply put yes. but....
How far away are you going to be shooting? Are you trapping? calling? or just oprotunity hunting? All or some of these animals are probably considered game/fur bearing and your state may have regualtions as to what type of gun you are using. here we can hunt them with 22 (we can even use 22 for mountain lions but that is only feesable if hunting with dogs and shooting a treed cat). Would I hunt with a .22lr? No, I have other guns better suited to that, but I have shot such animals in the past with one and when I trap I use one to dispatch any live critters (5 foot shots there). If you are going to use your 22 keep in mind not to try to shoot animals beyond the realistic range of the 22 and your ability as shot placement really becomes important. I personally have seen such animals shot with a 22 that didnt even seem to be phased like badgers, porcupines and yotes, I have even seen rabbits run around after being shot several times in the body. Heck I was shot with a 22 once. Didnt like it much but im still kicking.
By the way I own a speed master I won in a raffel when I was 18 years old. I have really liked it and it has given me years of good service.
