Varmint Gun choice....help me decide.

I have narrowed my choice down to 2 guns...both being a .223 caliber.
I can't decide between the:

Savage Mod 10 Predator
or the
Remington SPS Varmint.

I'll mainly be hunting coyote's, fox, and bobcats in the Ozark mountains in Arkansas.

thanks

I have never shot the Savage but the Remington SPS is a great gun I like it that is what I would go with.

Captok, I just bought the SPS Varmint in .204. GREAT gun! It has a carbon steel heavy barrel, ventilated stock, two front swivel studs (one for mounting a bipod), and an unbelievable trigger for being factory. That trigger breaks like glass, and absolutely zero creep. The .223 will be a great round for coyote, fox and bobcats. I paid $584 for mine.

my recommendation is to go pick up both and see which feels best. both will shoot well. personally i hate the craputrigger, so i would lean more towards the remington. ive got a 12fvss (in a bvss stock) 270WSM, and ive got an sps varmint in .223, and like i said they'll both shoot well.

The Bushmaster Varminter is wonderful. I love mine! Awesome accuracy, power, and fairly well priced for what you get.

Stop putting ideas in his head he had it down to two don't offer more choices. It is hard enough to decide the gun to buy.

When I'm buying a gun, I like to know ALL the options. Nothing wrong with some suggestions. That's what this forum is all about, learning from the experience and knowledge of others. It's far better to walk through life with your eyes wide open than with blinders on.

stick with the 2 bolt guns. ive also got a bushy varminter, and it is the reason i bought the remington sps. the AR is a license to waste ammo.

Perhaps you can try each gun

Do you have access to some manner to fire each gun? Perhaps at a range or networking in your local area among gun owners? Often it comes to a matter of "fit" in terms of your comfort level with weight, stock configuration, balance, trigger pull, and lockup time between trigger pull and ignition. Comfort can lead to practice which leads to confidence which leads to better results.

Both of the models you have mentioned are well spoken of at the range where I am a member. I would pick the one whick personally feels best to me, and go with it. You won't be sorry. I have a CZ 541 in 204 Ruger, and I like it just fine.

Thanks to everyone for the input

I went with the Rem. Mod. 700 sps varmint.

Going out with it for the 1st time tomorrow to hopefully stop a few coyotes from breathing.

thanks
