Does the Savage have the Accu-trigger? If it does I would opt for it. A couple of my friends have them and I am impressed. It will be my next rifle. I don't know how the Marlin shoots, but that Savage is a tack driver.

I've heard good things about both, but I'm partial to the Savage 93. I bought one for 230, the blued heavy barrel/wood stock one, and I shot a dime sized group at 100 yards within the first 30 shots. (off a bench with a solid benchrest and all that). But it's pretty good accuracy for a 230 dollar rifle.

I have had my 93 for a month or so now and am very happy with it. Accu-trigger works great and it drills tacks at 100yds. I opted for the vented/thumb-through stock and heavy barrel. The magazine fit could be a little better, but thats the only thing I have noticed so far. Definetly fun to shoot and accurate with good optics.

I have the marlin, it is a shooter. I don't think you can go wrong either way. I am thinking about getting one for my son, but he is only seven months old. Does any one have any experiance with a Henry lever in the 17hmr?
