| music slaughterhouse: Sir; I don't know one dang thing about calling them. What I do know? Last night; leaving church; we had one of those 'Carolina' nights. You could see into the heavens "Mister Moon" was sitting in the east as full as full could possibly be. Me; a thinking; how nice it would be; sitting on a hill top listening for the 'song dogs' The music of the night.

| Try using a pole or rod you can jab into the ground and fasten goose or turkey tail feathers on a string about 8" long at the top and set it slightly in front of you and off to the side about twenty feet so the feathers will move in the wind.Be cautious about motion.Use a combination of yips or crow calls and a distress call.Use high volume at start and then drop the volume.Keep trying. sam. |

| West Texas viewpoint I grew up in the oil field desert of West Texas. We generally heard them "singing" almost every night. A coyote is not a dog in the sense most people experience a dog. A coyote is extremely sensitive to its environment when it comes to hearing and smell and this is added to a superior intelligence/quicker reflexes than domesticated dog breeds. Do not feel badly if you cannot call them as they are just too "attuned" to be fooled by artificial noise. Also, train yourself to take in wide visual fields and acquire a smaller target within this field as coyotes can appear then disappear very quickly. Good luck but do not feel badly if this type hunting is not successful as I have known many who tried but few who ever got a coyote. |

| I have used a pole with feathers on it. And all the experts say to start with a low volume. Incase there are any predators close by. |
