| Shotguns for yote? Ive seen alot of you say to use this or that and this isnt that good or bad...even a mention of a sling shot. Typically Im a shotgunner and proud of it. Ive also noticed several loads lately with the intention of yotes. Like the Hevi Shot loads. Anyone used these? Assuming full choke loads and have to get close. Just want some insight.

| I would recommend using a full choke and stay under 50yds. I have never used a shotgun but know people who have and they have killed them with little problems. I have heard good things about the Hevi shot Dead Coyote loads so it wouldn't hurt to give it a try. |

| Super Moderator ![]() | I know a farm girl who nailed a fox at a fair distance with a 20ga slug. I'm a 12ga man myself and would be confident using it that way if I was practiced with a decent load for coyotes.

| When I hunt for yotes in dense woods, I use my 12 gauge over my .223. I personally use 3.5 inch #4 buckshot, I could buy it a lot cheaper than Dead Coyote, and can do the same thing with it. |

| LR I'll go along with that. When we used shotguns we had from #2shot to 00 buck with #4 buck working best. And never past 50yds. sam. |

| So you guys think it be all good to load the old Savage 750 with a full choke barrel and a box of high brass #4's? If so I might hit the pattern board when I get finished unpacking.

| #4 birdshot might shorten the range a little to 30yds or so but #4buckshot is good at 50yds.I would advise a modified choke to prevent distortion on #4 buck but I have seen it used with full,s and it did okay. sam. |

| See my reply in WINGSHOOTING section, dealing with patterning for coyote's. Just some prelim stuff right now. Will expand it later. Shows pix of patterns. |
