| .223 to 7mm mag I took my nephew shooting today because he wants to get into coyote hunting. I let him shoot my .223 and he wants one. Then I let him shoot my 7mm mag, he doesn't want one! lol. |

| .243 or perhaps 7mm/08 I realize you did not ask a particular question so please note these are just thoughts to consider. I really like the .243 and note it can be had in heavier varmit/target barrels on a number of manufacturer's guns. Also, the .243 is not a major recoil producer nor is it a loud gun on muzzle blast. | Hunting deer at 6? Doesn't sound very legal to me.... Magnum cartridges are overrated in my opinion |

| Senior Member | it's legal here in KY. there was a 4 yr. old in the paper last year. used a 22-250. i think the law is: you need to walk , you need to know what you are doing
