Called in my first coyote

Went hunting this afternoon and at 3 pm I went thru my second calling sequence with my Primos Raspy Coaxer when out of nowhere a coyote
ran out of the woods and into the field within ten yards of me. Before I could shoot he spotted me and was gone. Even though I didnt kill it, it was still a rush. And I thought bowhunting whitetails was exciting!

Thats great, I know the rush. This fall in a tree i called one in with one of the wooden calls. It was a Faulk's PCR-61 Cottontail predator call. He came out into the power line clearing and i let him have it. Not a bad size, weight at 54 pounds. I tried to post some pictures on another thread but they sometimes opened and most of the time did not.
I'll go back into photoshop and see if it might be my file. And if i can get them to work i'll try to post them on this reply if ya don't mind. Good luck in wacking him next time and i'll talk to ya later....earl

well shoot, i went out again this evening and saw nothin again. All we have is woodlots i wish we had some bigger stretches...I know a lot of luck is involved but i thought we had a pretty good sequence on our electronic caller, but i think mouth calls is the way to go. Only way i ever saw one was wiht a mout call...i guess i need to figure out what lots they like best

Sell33, I think you learn alot by trial and error ( alot of error for me). Like today for instance, the only thing I did different this evening was breaking up my calling sequence. The one thing I did wrong was not to position myself so I could see the whole field. I have got alot to learn still but I am going to keep trying because this stuff is addicting. If you have any suggestions on hunting woodlots please let me know!

good to hear mate. Try covering the end up a bit, and give it a really erratic blow. I managed to produce some yelping noises the other night that might stop them in that situation.

The Verminators tweety and syco tweety that i ordered arrived today so im going to test them this weekend...

LOL I fell a sleep in my recliner while watching Deal or No Deal and woke up after 1 A.M.
I'm wide awake and dieing for a cup of coffee, but i don't want to wake her up and I'm hungry too.
Some Butter Milk Bisquets, Scramblelled Eggs and Sausage shor would be good right now.

Hey ArkansasHunter how are ya.
Yep it was the first time i hunted them. But ya know them buggers kept me and Tara up most of that week and thats what promoted the hunt. I'll admit it was shear luck and a little wooden mouth call with very little bleeps and long stops in betweens.

I'M BACK!!!!! Nothing like good coyote talk to get my attention. When I call them, I always have my scope adjusted to 50 yards, 'cause its much easier to put them in the crosshairs, and they sometimes materialize out of nowhere. Also, you can adjust the scope easier when they're way out there without getting busted. Another thing I do is keep my 870 laying beside me for just that reason.

I'm skiing New Mexico this weekend. I was in north Albequerque last month at a friends and couldnt believe the size of the yotes! They live in a subdivision where its plenty rough and no firearms. I'm taking my bow!

I am going again this Friday and Sat. Can't seem to get enough of this stuff.
I don't think my wife likes me going every chance I get, but she finally came around on my deer hunting so sooner or later she will come around on my coyote hunting. I am going to take my nephew this weekend to see if I can get him "hooked". You are right Frozentorso I need to take a shotgun with me.
