What to do with baby bobcats ?

I went to check my live trap today, that had fruit and tomatos for bait, and what do I find but 2 (half bobcat half wild house cat) kittens.
Now what to do with them, there probably 3 mounths old and a little wild.
My wife wants to keep them, yes she has training she worked at the park service taking care of wild baby animals.
So i gess what I'm asking is should I let her keep them? or put them back were we found them?

kill em. usually illegal to keep live wild animals, plus it is usually illegal to release or relocate them. laws in your area may differ.

It might be wise to kill them if they are indeed half bob cat and half house cat. I would not like to see the wild bobcats bloodlines get contamintated with house cat blood, it sounds like a bad situation.

You may also want to contact your Dept. of Natural Recources.

my little sis is a vet and had raised some oddball critters folks have brought into the clinic.
she usually sends them to sanctuaries after she has had her fun of watching them grow up.

call DNR find out what the law is there. We had a cat that was half and half I liked her. The only dif. between ours and reg house cat was her tail and she wasnt afraid of ANYTHING. The dogs that crossed her path always had a big suprise. Baby was packin heat.

Ipersonally dont believe in making wild animals into pets. These are only half wild so I guess it is your choice. As to contaminating the blood line, they are hybrids and cant breed back. sam.

Well, feral cats are a nuisance here, they really cause farmers a lot of trouble. I wouldn't kill a domesticated cat or dog, if that is what you are implying.

I have seen some feral cats do some pretty devastating things. My uncle had about a dozen of his ducks killed by a feral cat. House cats are fine, but feral cats can be a destructive and a nuciance.

I'd keep them and raise them for giggles. Cats do better if kept inside. Hard to keep that natural killing instinct down but they can be kept inside if you make the effort.

We raised many a squirrel and other injured animal over the years. Lot's of fun.

Do not kill them out of hand.

First, check with Fish and Game and state law to see the status of hybrids. If you can't keep them, see if you have any wildlife sanctuaries that will.

As for those getting worried about them, Maine Coons are known to breed on the rare occasion with bobcats and the resultant offspring tend to be okay as long as they're socialized and trained properly.

Such hybridization which supposedly produced the Pixiebob breed is anecdotal.

The Desert Lynx is a known hybrid of Bobcat and domestica cat.

The people breed bobcat hybrids, you may want to drop them an email: Bengal, Desert, Highland, Lynx, Jag, Bobcat Hybrid, Kitten, Exotic Cat, Designer
