| How do you guys think the Aguila 60 grain .22 LR SSS's would do on fox at no more than about 40 yards. They move at 1000 f.p.s and I have heard that they have explosive results at close range. ps. I have a semi-automatic .22 LR, do you think they would cycle well, thanks.

| I think it would be a waste of money, but wish you would do it and give a report.A .22lr,either round nose or hollowpoint at that range will work if you hit them. They arent near as tough as a woodchuck but harder to hit. sam. |

| You would probubly be better with a high velcity hollowpoint. But I can't reccommend .22 LR on fox.

| with the 22lr, shot placement is more important than the bullet weight. Know the rifle, and the arc that it shoots. Know exactly where it will kit at any distance you are going to shoot, and if possible, measure of the distance to landmarks for reference when you set up to shoot. My experiance with 22lr semi autos is they are finnicky, and between cleaning them, matching the ammo, and hopeing it will cycle isn't worth it. Give me a nice bolt, or even a lever action. Of course for trapping, I carry a revolver, and use 22 shorts, except for skunk, then I go back to the truck for a rifle. |
