Scope for .243 Remington

I just bought an older remington model 788 243 ($150 ) for coyote hunting. It came with a charles daly 3x9x42, but I don't like it or the rings. Any suggestions for a scope or rings?

You got that for a pretty fair price, you might want to shoot it before you go spending more cash on a scope. Maybe the thing is a tack driver, I had one in 308 that was.

It's a wide angle, which I'm not the biggest fan of, its awful dim, and just cheap. I don't know if they even make them anymore it's probably old as the gun is.

I have shot it. It shoots a great group at 75 yds with cheap remington ammo, but I'd like to extend my distance for coyote. I've heard it will shoot accurate enough to kill coyote up to about 400 yds with a good scope. I was thinking maybe a 6x18x50 or something like that

great little rifle, for a heck of a price. my first stops for a scope for it would be bushnell's 3200/4200 series. alot depends on your budget.

Bushnell

I have had good luck with Bushnell which is not expensive, does seem to really bring in the light, and have never had a breakage.

However, this is a forum and I rather imagine you will get lots of recommendations for scopes priced completely beyond my means.

Nikon are my favorite scopes. I've used Tasco in the past and they seem to be solid as well.

Maybe I'm wrong but if it shoots a great group at 75 wouldn't it be capable of the same at a farther distance. Is the scope clarity the only problem?
